ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT : THE PRIME SUSPECTS IN THE KIDNAPS OF ABACITYBLOG PUBLISHER The Abduction of the publisher of AbacityBlog Mr Ngozi Blessed Onwukwe by gunmen in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State earlier today (FRIDAY) is highly condemnable and uncalled for. It was learnt that the kidnappers laid in ambush for the publisher on his way to an official assignment at Arochukwu were Orji Uzor Kalu’s foundation of free interest loan were scheduled to hold. The prime suspects and accusations are all pointing to the government of Okezie Ikpeazu .Violence against journalists ,reporters and publishers has been at its peak since the emergence of Ikpeazu as the governor of Abia state. Ikpeazu has been indirectly encouraging attacks and intimidation of opposition media. Earlier in August 2017,Ikpeazu’s government collaborates with the Nigerian Army to raid many vendors shop At Aba, clamping down on Biafra newspapers and accused them of publishing reports against his government. There are documented evidence of the arrest of Biafra newspapers Publishers, many publishers have been a victim of Ikpeazu’s clamp down on media ,hence they were beaten severely, kidnapped, or in one case, almost killed. The kidnapped of Ngozi Blessed Onwukwe of AbacityBlog maybe politically influenced by Okezie Ikpeazu because of the publishers strong criticism and reportage of dilapidated infrastructures, poor governance , mismanagement, and recklessness of the current government of Abia state. No doubt, Okezie Ikpeazu is “just deceiving the world into thinking that there is press freedom in Abia state. Today, journalist and publishers are the soft target of Ikpeazu’s administration.
