Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Friday inaugurated two newly rehabilitated roads facilitated by the Leader of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila in Modele and Mathew Streets, Surulere 1 federal Constituency, Lagos. He also inaugurated solar-powered LED street lights on Randle Avenue, Fred Anyiam, Alhaji Danmole, and Ilorin streets, also in Surulere.

The Lagos State Governor while addressing residents of Surulere who turned out in large numbers expressed his love for the sterling performance records of the House Leader.

“Honourable Gbajabiamila is a most valued legislator who has supported our government in all we have been doing and his support has been unflinching.”

“With this seat (House Leader’s Office), our Leader in the House has attracted numerous projects to his constituency and Lagos at large. In 2016 the House Leader mobilized the Lagos Lawmakers in the House to pull resources together to give Lagos a befitting Sports and Recreation Centre in Epe.”

Ambode informed the residents of Surulere about the interest of Gbajabiamila to further embark on another road project immediately after the Commissioning of Modele and Mathew Streets.

“Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila has just whispered to me that immediately after this commissioning of Modele – Mathew Road, federal engineers will proceed to Karimu Street for the rehabilitation of that road.”

Gbajabiamila, in his comments, said the delivery of the projects was a redemption of his electoral promise to impact on the lives of the people. He, however, said the inspiration to facilitate the projects came from the state governor.

“The inspiration to facilitate these projects came from the state governor who had done a lot in the area of infrastructural development. What we have just done today with these roads and street lights is to complement what he is doing. Mathew and Modele roads had been deplorable for such a long time and I thank God that the story has changed with the rehabilitation,” he said.

The Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Henry Ajomale, commended Gbajabiamila for the projects. He said the facilitation of the projects showed the commitment of the federal lawmaker to his constituency. Ajomale said the APC remained the only party with good programmes for Lagosians, which the deeds of Ambode and Gbajabiamila exemplified.

Rep. Dauda Kako-Are, representing Mushin Constituency on the platform of Accord Party, also commended Gbajabiamila for the projects. He said the House of Representatives was proud of the achievements of Gbajabiamila.

“In Accord Party we support Gov. Ambode for second term in office. For the records I support Hon. Femi to be Speaker in 2015 and still believe he has capacity to perform in parliament”, Kako Are said.

Also speaking at the event, APC Chieftain in Surulere and Lagos Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mr Agboola Dabiri, said the new projects were just part of what Gbajabiamila had delivered in many areas. He said the lawmaker had given E-Learning Tablets to support education in the area and had also supported healthcare. Dabiri said the House Leader had provided training for youths on different vocations and had supported them with equipment after training as well assisted many Surulere youths in gainful employment. He said residents were appreciative of so many things the lawmaker had done to improve lives in the area.
