The United States government has spoken on the upcoming general elections inNigeria.

The US said the 2019 general elections was its priority focus, and vowed to work towards achieving a peaceful transition.

America’s Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, said this while doing a background briefing on his planned trip to Africa from Tuesday.

He said the United States recognizes that Nigeria would be the third most populous country in the world by 2050, and as such was worried about the complex political issues and ethnic and tribal issues and security issues it is currently contending with.

He said, “As we look at the 2019 elections, obviously Nigeria, though it’s not this year – it’s going to be next year – that really is a major priority focus, because that’s going to be the third most populous country in the world by 2050.

“It has really very complex political issues and ethnic and tribal issues and security issues. And that’s an area that we really are focusing on how to do a peaceful transition, a democratic transition, but more important is how to hold governments accountable to the people.”

The Tuesday’s trip will be Tillerson’s first to Africa.

The US is no longer comfortable with this shithole created by the British.

Buhari will win and his foolishness in 2023 will finally push the US to split Nigeria into a much more manageable and prosperous Nations.

Read the news carefully again and you will understand why the US don't view IPOB as a terrorist group.

That is the thinking of most Yorubas but those who are intelligent, know that the US foresee a civil war and won't like it to erupt.

That is why the US indirectly supports Biafra and can be seen through their defense of IPOB.

Buhari will win and help destroy Nigeria by 2023 when he hands over power to a Hausa Fulani Man instead of an Igbo man.

Who will liberate the eternally marginalized Igbos?

Even an Igbo foetus feels marginalized for having been conceived.

When President Obama addressed a speech to Nigerians in the prelude to the 2015 elections, was he also alluding to the famous Igbo marginalization?

When will the U.S show concern over the marginalization of Igalas, Itsekiris, Tivs, Urhobos, and the many other ethnic groups in this country that are yet to smell the presidency? undecided

US no longer believe in a country like Nigeria that breeds international criminals due to the refusal of Hausa Fulani Yoruba elites to allow True Federalism that will make Nigeria work and in turn, reduce the number of people going into crimes.

Funny that you should mention elites of all major tribes without mentioning Igbo elites. Have the Igbos eventually succumbed to a minority status in the country they had hoped to dominate?

I thought an Igbo on Nairaland once proved to all how the Igbos were more relevant than Yorubas in Nigeria's political history over the many democratic administrations from the 1st republic?

When it is time to boast and gloat, you suddenly forget about marginalization. When it is time to to attract sympathy, you go into the old cloak room and adorn the emotional garb of marginalization.

When the Igbo lament about marginalization, they are actually lamenting that they have not been allowed to dominate as planned and as they effected in the 1st republic that even they truncated to ensure a more total control.

Had to read the main link. It couldn't have been a mistake because he said "transition" twice.

Things are certainly getting interesting.

For ffs, nobody's being marginalized in Nigeria..how long has Nigeria been in civilian rule that every tribe must "smell" the presidency?? Have you forgotten a president is allowed a max of eight years in office?? So where's the logic of tribes being marginalized since the time frame from when we started civilian rule to this period is not big?? Mention one prominent figure from any of the tribes you mentioned who's fit to be a president?? You can't just vote for a person just because his tribe is being marginalized..didn't the Ijaws get the chance to rule Nigeria?? And what did their so called son of the soil did?? He "self-destruct" himself..if the Igbos want presidency, fine they should join hands and fight for it..not shouting marginalization..I believe their time will come soon..and pls there's a huge difference between Hausa and other Hausa-speaking tribes in Northern Nigeria..since democracy started, no Hausa person has ever ruled Nigeria..should they now shout marginalization??
