This forking coward.
All afonjas took their cowardly act from this motherfucker
why some of you like to displace you ignorance in public Even Ojukwu respect Awolowo so much to the exctent he said '' Awolowo was the best president Nigeria never had''. During the Regional government, this Man brought a great development to the Western region, gave them free education, thru an Edo man introduced the first television in Africa and so on. The Igbos direct their futration to Nnmadi Azikiwe for his greediness and not developing his region, Awolowo who was a Visionary man knew that Nigeria is a country with many nations and since the malgation has being advocating for regional government but becos of the greed of Azikwe he did not see the future and him and Ahmadu bello refering to great Awolowo and a tribalistic man. Immediately after Independence 1963 but Zik and Bello imprisoned Awolowo for more than 10yrs for what he believed.

Africa's only visionary leader ever lived.
If Obafemi Awolowo had being British Prime Minister , Britain would have gotten to the moon before America ; says Harold Wilson.

Clown. The real Yoruba demon. The released you from Calabar prison after a meeting to take your people out of Nigeria. You went back to say Igbos should not be allowed to go. You became finance minister for Gowon and blockaded Igbo land, using hunger as weapon of warfare. I wish you were alive now to see the mess you left behind.

The Great Awolowo, there can never be anyone like him. If not for Awolowo my dad would be an illiterate, his free education was a blessing to poor folks.

It will interest you to note that a significant numbers of those we see here chanting "Awo and otapiapua" in the same sentence or referring to him as a core tribalist- if it wasn't for this same Awo, their ( ungratiful, lying, impish) fathers/uncles would have never seen the inside of a educational institution.
Something that their own leaders couldn"t provide for them despite all their chest-beatings and turenchi.

The man did great for his time. Simply because nobody has done anything close since.

But he, Zik of Africa, Enahoro and others had the chance to let the North go and create a progressive country in the South. The North were even reluctant to remain with the South.

However, even in my lifetime, religion & ethnicity were not such terrible issues as they are now. So maybe they thought things would get better as we get better educated and develop with our massive resources & potential.

Sadly they were way too optimistic. Other things that followed especially the civil war that has polarised the country till now, blame game over who allegedly betrayed whom, all resulted from that misjudgement.

RIP sir.

Enahoro was the first to see that Nigeria was more likely to fail than succeed hence he proposed secession clause to make it easy not only for the North but for all tribes to part ways post independence. But he was mocked and threatened with felony charges by those now seeking for secession most.
A no fit shout!

Awolowo (in an Eastern prison) and Enahoro (in a prison outside the Eastern Region) were released on the same order.
Now, who, between Ojukwu and Gowon, could give an order and it would be obeyed in two different regions at that point in time?
Moreover, Awolowo's release happened just 3 days into Gowon's regime - a time the issue of Biafra Declaration had not yet occurred to Ojukwu who was at that moment still embroiled in arguments with Gowon how seniority favoured himself to succeed Ironsi as Nigeria's new military HoS.
Biafran declaration idea crossed Ojukwu's mind in 1967 i.e. at least 5 months after Awolowo's release. So how possible for Ojukwu to release Awolowo for an Accord over a project that was yet to cross his mind as at the time of the release?
Could you kindly explain this chronological disorder?

But Enahoro admitted a few years before he died that they didn't make proper any plans for the future when fighting for independence.

He said they all thought that once the British were gone, we as black people will be able to negotiate things among ourselves. How wrong they were.

Sure most of them were very young and never ran an independent country before. They were were simply too optimistic.

Of course we're talking here with hindsight. If we had lived at that time, we would have succumbed to independence euphoria too. cheesy
