Wives of local government chairmen have been enjoined to think of how they will affect lives during their husbands’ tenure.

The Wife of the state Governor, Dame Edith Okowa, who made the appeal when wives of the newly elected 25 local government chairmen paid her a courtesy visit at the Government House, Asaba, yesterday stated that there is need for the people in their various communities to benefit from them so that at the end, they would be remembered with something positive.

Dame Okowa further said that people in their localities are full of expectations from them and on their own way; they should try to bless them by affecting their lives, which will on the other hand help their husbands to move ahead.
According to the governor’s wife “God has called you because you are not the only person
in that local government, let it be that after
your stay, people in your community will remember you, how can you be remembered if you did not impact lives,” she asked.

She also pleaded with the women to put all hands on deck in moving the state forward, adding that prosperity for all Deltans is not the job of one man, it is all for everyone.

She used the occasion to intimate the women on the vision of her pet project – 05 Initiative, aimed at putting smiles on the faces of Deltans and sued for their support.

This administration, she said is built on Jesus and that is why we must serve Him, adding that they should not relent in their constant prayers towards the state, their husbands and families. According to Dame Okowa, “If you want your husband to succeed,

you have to be on your knees for his success.
Dame Okowa also used the occasion to counsel the women on the need to work as a team by reaching out to one another, rub minds together, share ideas, saying that Delta State is beyond boundaries and the need to speak with one voice is very necessary.

Speaking on the essence of their visit, the leader of the group and wife of Ethiope West Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Ese Oghene Golley, said that they were on a familiarity visit on the governor’s wife and at the same time, to pledge their loyalty and to seek which area they can fit in her pet project, 05 Initiative.

She commended Dame Okowa for all her activities in the 05 Initiative, which she uses in putting smiles on the faces of the down trodden in the state and prayed that the good Lord will help her and her husband, the Governor,Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to finish well and strong at the end of their tenure.

Highpoint of the visit was the exchange of gifts by the women and the governor’s wife.
