*…as Edo PDP Chair intensifies work on his Adesuwa Rd hotel*

Investigations have  revealed that the chairman of Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, has received N800 million from the South East and South-South governors of the party to intensify his campaign in the media and other fronts in Edo State.

The money is for the payment of the PDP’s foot soldiers, namely; their social media activists, the youth wing of the party in the state, the party’s  stand-by hired crowd, mainstream media representatives that are sympathetic to the opposition party’s cause, amongst others, for whom a monthly budget of N100 million has been set aside.

 Sources familiar with the disbursement, affirm that the brief is to unleash a campaign of calumny against officials of Edo State, on an unprecedented scale by finding fault with every project or programme executed in the state, no matter how popular the project is among the people.

Although the funding is done by the PDP governors of the South East and South South states, the execution is supervised by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, whose job is to supply media content for the Dan Orbih-led smear campaign, at the national level.

The hired crowd that followed the PDP’s chairman to and from the police station, the media activities such as the press conference and statement issued by Ologbondiyan and circulated by the state publicity secretary of PDP, Chris Nehikhare, were all executed with the money.

The source said there are worries that the money may tear the Edo PDP apart as there are feelers that Dan Orbih has commenced work on his abandoned hotel project since receiving the money and has bounced back to his extravagant lifestyle that he adopted after his short stint on the board of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) some years ago.

The activities of the board on which he served are still being investigated for what civil society groups allege is one of the biggest frauds in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

...Edo State government Media Managers plan to dupe Gov Obaseki.

In a surreptitious manner, media aides to Governor Obaseki have perfected plans to dupe governor Obaseki and Edo State government.

They have sponsored a bogus, unsubstantiated and fallacious story in the press saying that South south and South east governors have given Edo PDP Chairman, Chief dan orbih, N800m to wage a media war in Edo state. They even went further to say Chief orbih is using part of the money to continue work in his sixty room hotel along Adesuwa road in Benin City.

The infantile story exposed EDSG and its employees as unserious, unimaginative, desperate, clueless and visionless. We are only responding because EDSG and by extension, Edo people would be defrauded of up to N300m in the first instance to fight a non existent media war. By planting such a fake story in the media space, their plan is to present a counter proposal to the government demanding N300m to fight their imaginary war.

For the avoidance of doubt, Edo PDP or Chief dan orbih did not receive and does not need N800m from any governor to wage or intensify media war against Edo State government or any purpose whatsoever. The incompetence, lack of leadership and sincerity been exhibited by EDSG is the reason for the bad press they are getting. They are unable to account for rice, vegetable oil and used shoes given to them in trust for the North East IDPs in the state. They boasted of setting up model farms across the state using Sobe as demonstration site, but failed woefully. Tayo Akpata University of Education exists only in name and to make matters worse, they say human trafficking and prostitution is part of our culture.

In nearly ten years in power, this government was not able to build or equip or even rehabilitate a single hospital in the state. In their glaring ignorance and misplaced arrogance, EDSG credited ownership of the building along Adesuwa Road to Chief dan orbih and referred to it as a sixty room hotel. That building belongs to Dr. Ehigiamusoe, chief executive of LAPO and it is a medical diagnostic center. He identified government's failure in the health sector, he identified the sufferings of Edo people in the hands of this clueless and hapless government in regards to provision of health facilities. He decided to intervene!

Edo state government and its spin doctors have sunk to a new low. They now concoct stories in a shameless manner to elicit sympathy from the good people of Edo state. Edo people are wiser now. They cannot be fooled. However, if governor Obaseki is man enough to apologize for the "misappropriated" rice, his government may get some reprieve.

Dan Orbih's N800m Scandal: Nehikhare Face Your Accusers, Leave EDSG Out of Your Predicament

The Edo State Government is shocked at the unwarranted attack on it by the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over a publication, in which the writers claimed that N800 million received by the chairman of Edo PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, to wage media war in the state was diverted.

The Edo State government's media team has always signed off on any article or communication material emanating from the state. We have no reason to hide under any mask when we issue press statements.

We wish to state that the said article that Chris Nehikhare ascribed to the Edo State government did not emanate from us. Nehikhare and his co travellers are just boxing shadows.

Edo PDP should check elsewhere for who their accusers are and leave Edo State Government out of their predicament as the state government has better things to do with its precious time.

However, a second look at the said article and a scientific perusal of the intentions of the writers suggest some infighting within the Edo PDP. If the brewing crisis is over fears of the possible diversion of N800million media war receipt by Dan Orbih, then the fears are founded as the Edo PDP has a long and sustained history of diverting money. Are we suddenly on another planet? Have we not heard and read tales of billions of naira diverted by members of the Edo PDP?

Perhaps, worried that the party is a type cast for misappropriation of funds, the lesser devils in the opposition party may have feared that the said N800 million media budget would go into private investments, hence raised the alarm.

Evil haunts the doers and the wicked runs when no man pursues. Nehikhare, face your shadow and deal with it. Leave Edo State Government out of your internal issues.
