DejiSantos: Africa is already transforming. You people will be shocked at the number and scale of projects being carried out across the continent as we speak. Don't expect to see it on CNN though. You have to research it yourself. One example is the Grand Inga dam being built in central Africa. It is expected to generate over 40,000 megawatts, transforming that region into an industrial powerhouse. Then you have various multi-bllion dollar road and rail projects connecting countries such as Ethiopia and Eritrea, and intra-country railroads as well. Tanzania is building the largest seaport in Africa in the city of Bagamoyo, which will handle something like 6 times what the port of Lagos handles per annum. Kenya is building a similar sized port at a place called Lamu. Even Nigera is not left out. The national rail masterplan, which has started with success (see Abuja-Kaduna network) is a $25 billion project that will connect every state capital in the country by high speed rail. And the giant 3050 megawatt Mambilla hydropower project is a world class project by any standards. A lot is happening in Africa. But it is our children and grandchildren that will really enjoy it. 11 Giant Infrastructure Projects Reshaping Africa http://www.businessinsider.com/giant-infrastructure-projects-reshaping-africa-2016-12?IR=T 1 Like |

Rosskii:When we talk about African transformation or developments, d first thing that should come to our mind is the people, can we eradicate poverty in Africa?? Can we provide quality education to our children in Africa?? Can we sustain ourselves without aids from developed countries?? can we train ourselves to build our own infrastructures?? If all these aren't in place, Africa is not developing, development is far beyond building dams, bridges, roads e.t.c. if we don't develop the African minds and build those aforementioned stuffs, who will maintain them?? do u expect Chinese and Japanese to build and still maintain our infrastructures for us?? How many of those infrastructures listed up there is being built by Africans?? If we build African minds, African minds will transform Africa. 1 Like 1 Share |

Powering Africa’s Transformation Africa has a bright future ahead of it. Productivity and growth will improve as African economies continue to place more emphasis on services and manufacturing, pursue commodity production, and achieve quick gains in agriculture and light industry. But African countries’ success presupposes that they generate and manage energy sustainably to keep up with increasing demand. In the next 35 years, Africa’s population will continue to rise, with a projected 800 million people across the continent moving to cities. And Africans are already disproportionately exposed to the adverse effects of climate change, even though they are collectively responsible for less than 4% of global greenhouse-gas emissions. Urban areas will have to reduce environmental stresses by promoting low-carbon energy systems, electric mass transportation, and energy-efficiency initiatives, as well as the use of cleaner cooking fuels. And rural areas can create new opportunities that reduce the need for urban migration, by expanding renewable energy systems and energy access. https://transcorppower.com/2017/04/13/powering-africas-transformation/ |
