This is one of the primary schools in Yimirshika hawul local government (Yimirshika primary school ll) where students learn English, mathematics and sciences sitting on log of wood and bar stones, this part of borno community has been neglected for too long even before Boko Haram stated. Something urgent needs to be done to help them catch up with the rest of the world. 1 Like 1 Share

Sigh* the North can't be left to rot educationally like this. The southern people are becoming more exposed hence demanding greater leadership while the north is wallowing in poverty and Islamic fanaticism. The average Northerner doesn't know what an Ideal country should be like instead they have been dashed Islam and many of them think as long as they have Islam they are fine and content. But the whole of Nigeria can't be free until the North is freed from the shackles holding her down. And until the Northern people are completely mentally free from the perpetual slavery her elites have placed them in, we in the south can continue to scream in futility but Nigeria won't progress. 84 Likes 6 Shares |

I really don't know what to say...to still have a government school looking like relics of the lost ages saddens my heart. Am beginning to see the problems of our great nation to be more of spiritual. That particular area would sure have a councilor and just 10% of his/her monthly renumeration would at least give the school a facelift. 3 Likes |

What are the northern governors doing with the monthly allocation forcefully taken from Niger-delta??...Buhari should be fighting corruption in the North, no sign of improvement in northern schools since the 60s. 4 Likes |

The learning environment can affect the way a child thinks or learn. And what ever a child learns in the formative years sticks like bee to honey and affects the way he/she will reason, act, speak or decide in future. This learning environment could be the root-cause of so many things revealing itself today. I no wan talk too much..... It takes wisdom to understand. 3 Likes |

HigherEd:well said You made a striking point am from d south serving in the north The distance between advancement of the south both socially, educationally, mentally healthwise and otherwise is such a huge gap Especially the core north even among the christian population, the Muslims are not even yet in 19th century talk more of 21st century Until the hungry, malnourished large population of uneducated north is civilized the country is going no where 5 Likes 1 Share |

I'm not sure any student can assimilate anything they are teaching here. These people will just keep dragging us backward because they don't value education. I just wish we can go our separate ways. 2 Likes |

HigherEd: I beg to disagree. You are forcing people who have fundamentally different values to live together which is an aberration. People need to be free to decide their future. Northerners alike. If they decide feudalism and Islamic Fundamentalism is best for them by all means let them be and stop trying to force them. you cannot submit the destiny of one tribe to the failure of another tribe. People should be free to decide their future and live by their decisions Nigeria is a zoo and the only solution is to divide Nigeria 3 Likes |
