I bought this Toyota Corolla 2010/2011 model(1.8 Liter engine)recently. It covers about 230 kilometer to and fro on highway with 20 liters of fuel without AC. Please, I want to know if the consumption rate is normal from those using similar model. Driving within the city consumes more due to traffic which is about 80 kilometers/10 liters. My search on the internet shows 3.4 gallons/100miles; MPG 26 for city and 34 for highway but I don't understand this gallon thing with our liters. Thanks and God bless you as I get contributions.

I think its too high cos thats exactly what i get with my accord 2.4 ivtec doch

The official figures for city is 26 miles per gallon.

10 litres is 2.5 gallons.

2.5 × 26 = 65 miles

So fuel consumption is just very fine

I believe your counter counts in miles not kilometres.

It is the outer bolder speedometer that the mileage counter uses. If it is miles, then the mileage is in miles.

Thanks for your input, sir. The counter is in kilometers. It can also be changed to read in miles also but I have not done so since I bought the car as I prefer the readings in kilometers. Though to some extent, I feel the consumption is OK based on its capacity but I want to be sure by comparing with users of similar cars.

Well if that's the case 80km is approximately 50 miles (49.7).

There is a difference of 15 miles between the fuel economy specs and the what your car is getting. So yes, it's consuming to some extent.

The car is doing 20 miles per gallon instead of 26.

I covered about 315 kilometers with about(-+) 20 litres on high way after changing the fuel pump as we discovered the previous wasn't working efficiently. This car is fuel efficient especially when driven moderately.

Please I think mine consumes more. What might be the likely cause.
