The Special Adviser to the Governor on Communities and Communications, Akeem Sulaimon, on Monday said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode meant well for Lagosians, adding that money realised from the Land Use Charge was meant to build more infrastructure.

Sulaimon said this while addressing members of community development associations at a stakeholders’ meeting in the Ikeja area of the state.

He explained that the Ambode-led administration had been working to bring more development to the state, adding that to further build infrastructure, there was the need to review the Land Use Charge Law which had not been reviewed for the past 17 years.

Sulaimon said: “The current administration has also reduced charges on land use by between 15 per cent and 50 per cent with a lot of incentives attached.

“The government has also given room for instalment payment so that people could spread their payments with ease.”

The Special Adviser also stated that the government had approved 270 projects to be executed across the 57 councils in the state.

“This shows the government’s commitment to the grass-roots development which will transform the state into an enviable haven suitable for business and prosperity of residents,” he added.

Sulaimon urged Lagosians to protect government projects in their communities from vandals.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue Matters, Lasisi Abdul-Fatai, said the land use charges had been packaged in such a way that property owners would pay with ease.

They want to kill Nigerians..

What kind of problem is this? Is it a crime to be a Nigerian? Who would lead this revolution and protest? We can't continue like this in this country...

Ambode is a big tribalist and bigot. He keeps passing laws to target Igbos in Lagos thinking he can slow us down. He has been taxing igbo businesses in Lagos to increase Igr of the state. But we keep on progressing. Then he passed that rubbish language law to turn Lagos that was developed with oil money to a Yoruba state. Now he has passed a useless land use charge law to further extort more money from Igbo landlords. But his own afonja are the ones complaining the most because no matter what he does, Igbo in Lagos will continue making money. We will continue buying your lands and paying whatever land use charge no matter the amount. It is poor and lazy afonja in Lagos that will run out of Lagos to their brown roof villages by the time their Igbo landlord increase their rents. Mark my words. You cannot hold down an Igbo man. Never.

God will surely punish this wicked Ambode and his sponsors. This inhuman LUC will never work!! There is no way on earth such outrageous charges will be implemented. I know Nigerians are docile but not to this level. Lagosians will become homeless if this Law comes into being. Landlords will increase house rents by over 500%.Even the organized labour will have no other choice but to come in
