Well,the new name couples with chemitry analysis,make it sound,look different,the propthyne,enthyene,hydrogenerate carbons are rooted from crude oil.All motor oil base are source frm crude oil..the refine justified the end result .

All motor oils are based on crude oil but there is a difference. The crude oil-based lubes are severely refined distillates from crude. Synthetic oils (also known as poly alpha olefins) are long chain polymers of alpha olefins like hexene.

You would not make them from alkynes.

Some synthetic oils could also be made from esters as well.
