A Nigerian General, Major
General Moses Bisong Obi, has
been appointed the new Force
Commander of the United
Nations Mission in Sudan
(UNMIS). General Obi succeeds
Major General Paban Jung Thapa,
a Nepalese who has completed
his tour of duty in the Mission.
He will be inducted into the
mission on 22 May, 2010.
Until his appointment, Major
General Obi was the Chief of
Training and Operations, Army
(CTOP‘A’) at the Army
Headquarters in Abuja. He had
also served as the General Officer
Commanding (GOC), 1 Division,
Nigerian Army.
General Obi who hails from
Oku-Bushuyu in Boki Local
Government Area of Cross River
State, attended the Nigerian
Military School, Zaria after which
he proceeded to the Nigerian
Defence Academy. The General
has since his commission into
the Nigerian Army, also attended
several military and civil courses
locally and abroad. He has also
held several command, staff and
instructional appointments at
various levels.
General Obi is a veteran of
many military operations and has
participated in the United
Nations Interim Force in Lebanon
(UNIFIL) and ECOWAS Monitoring
Group (ECOMOG) operations in
Liberia and Sierra Leone, and the
multinational operation in the
Lake Chad Area.
General Obi is a 2004
recipient of the National Honours
Award of the Officer of the Order
of Niger (OON), for professional
Excellence. He also has the Cross
River State Medal of Honour.
He is married to Barrister Mrs
Patricia Obi and they are blessed
with children

i forgot to add that this is the 2nd time that a nigerian is becoming chief in Sudan, Martin luther Agwai was the first darfur chief.

Maybe make him Chief of Defence Staff in Nigeria
