100 Days in office: CLETUS EKPO BRIEFS ETINAN PEOPLE ON ACHIEVEMENT



***As Etinan Political Stakeholders Adopt Barr Aniefiok Dennis For Second Term



Despite the poor and dwindling allocation to local government areas in the state, the Executive Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area Surv. Cletus Ekpo has deemed its fit to briefed his people on his achievements of100 days in office after his inauguration as the chairman of council.





Addressing his people in a town hall meeting recently at Etinan Local government secretariat Millennium Hall, Surv. Ekpo said that Etinan Executive Council have set a development plan for the old region local government area.





“I set out my plans for the people of Etinan, as an executive, we came together and decided that we must have something to show in our first hundred days in office.”



He also added that government has renovated the Legislative chamber which was once a shadow of itself.



“Legislative chamber was in a total mess, no light, no furniture, the place was completely dilapidation. We decided to refurbish that place; make sure that light is restored; the place is painted, furnitures are replaced with new facilities "





All the windows and doors that were vandalized, we have replaced them. Today you can see we have a befitting chamber for our legislators to carry out their functions.”



On the ongoing remodeling of the council entrance, the chairman said “We decided to remodel the front of the council, and by the special grace of God, it is ongoing, we intend taking all the way down to the legislative chamber with a carport”



Etinan market now boasts of a functional toilet with constant running water an initiative the chairman said was done to aid the market women and men.



“Etinan market had a toilet but not functional, I said how can our women sell in this market and when they are pressed they don’t have a place to ease themselves.”



“We have refurbished the toilet in Etinan market, put in state of the art facilities for the use of our women. It is a six-room toilet facility, three for the male and three for the female and an office space for an attendant.”



“We are sinking a bore hole to provide water for the use in running the toilet. We also gave them a generator so that water can be running there 24 hours.”



On the issue of maintaining of roads in Etinan, the executive chairman said plans are underway to begin grading of all the bad roads in Etinan very soon.



“We plan to maintain all the roads in Etinan Local Government, we are repairing our grader, when you go out you will see. If you have any bad road in your area, report same to your councilor, work will begin next week”



He further said several students of Etinan origin in higher institutions of learning have been assisted with school fees and study aids.



“We have been able to empower students in tertiary institutions, we been able to touch the lives of our women and youths, today I have part of my one thousand grandaunts on skill acquisitions.”



The council boos also applauded Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel giants strides on road constructions in Etinan. He said another industry is set to berth in Etinan in addition to the revamped Peacock Paints Industry.



Surv. Ekpo appealed to those without voters’ card to take opportunity of window and get a permanent voters card.



As part of the event that took place, the Political Stakeholders of the area also adopted their industrious son, Barr. Aniefiok Dennis Akpan, the member representing Etinan state constituency for a second term at the hallowed chamber.



While delivering goodwill message during the town hall meeting, Obong Paul Ekpo the state party chairman thanked the people for the show of support to the council chairman. While adding that he was impressed with the attitude of Etinan politicians who after election join with Cletus Ekpo to build Etinan.



Obong Ekpo also acknowledged the fact that Barr. Dennis Akpan as performed creditably well and should be seen a model for other politicians. Obong Paul Ekpo further endorsed his second term aspiration.



Giving his goodwill messages, Isatim Kenneth Okon the former two times Chairman of Etinan and present Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel applauded the council chair on his achievements. Isatim said only God handles the affair of men as such Cletus Ekpo is the will of God.



The Board chairman of Peacock Paint, Engr. Billy Etuk also commended the Executive Chairman and endorsed the second term aspiration of Barr. Aniefiok Dennis.





The highpoint of the event was the presentation of achievements by the council boss and the adoption of Barr. Dennis Akpan for second term





In attendance were women, youths and political stakeholders of Etinan extraction among several other dignitaries.
