99% Of Our Elites Don’t Invest In Nigeria – Bishop Kukah by Nwaforj44: 4:13am On Apr 02, 2018
Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah yesterday lamented that, Nigeria and Nigerians are poor because a good percentage of her elites invest outside the shores of the country to the detriment of Nigerian people. Kukak, who insisted that Nigerian elites were making other nations’ economy blossom, however appealed that they should have a rethink towards making the nation better. “While there are hunger, poverty, under-development in the land, the economy of India is growing courtesy of rich Nigerians. Ninety-nine percent of our elites‎ are the ones keeping the economy of South Africa,” Kukah said. Speaking during the celebration of Christ Resurrection Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas‎’s Chaplaincy, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, (UDUS), Bishop Kukah advised Nigerian leaders and other influential political figures to embrace integrity and abandon the culture of personal enrichment. The revered Bishop further blamed poor parenting for some of the challenges confronting Nigeria as a nation. While admonishing Nigerians to start thinking of a new country where laws and orders are supreme, Kukah said poor parenting was a reflection of the country’s leadership. He also decried how Nigerian leaders could not meet up with the basic needs of her citizenry, despite the abundant human and natural blessings endowed the country by God. “It is quite unfortunate that we have to rely on the benevolence of former US President, Jimmy Carter and Bill Gates to fight hook worm and polio”. Bishop Kukah also appealed to all Nigerians to respect the provisions of the constitution, saying, hence it’s clear on some issues that guarantee peace. “The greatest threat‎ to us as a country is the inability to live according to the letters of our constitution.”

Because of lack of investment security in the country due to ethnic/religious jingoism, cheap politics and greed.

Only a fool goes fishing in a river with a leaking boat.

Everyone knows about what happened to Slok Airline, Master energy in Aba etc.
