Bros in one form or the other, it will soon get to your turn. Do you wish a student who had struggle for 3 years to pay his tuition fee to drop out now at the last year? Don't you consider the hardship they will be passing through. If you find yourself in this position, will you consider dropping out at this last hurdle Bros use your brain sometimes now

Where are people like doemelo when you need them.
Not going all over NL attacking people rather than holding your so called "heaven sent" and "saintly" politicians accountable.

You people should stop dignifying NwaAmaikpe with response(s). He is just a troll who attract attention by being sarcastic and negative.

He's on every nairaland thread for a reason.

Acidosis:
Students will never learn. Protests don't work in Nigeria.

The students should have called for a dialogue. It is simple, ask Akeredolu what the students will get in exchange for a steady (not sporadic) fee increment. There is no law anywhere in Nigeria that says a Governor can't increase fees of state infrastructure.

If he insists on increasing fees, dialogue with him and save your heads. Beg him to allow current and existing students maintain the fees. The new policy should commence on willing incoming students (intakes).

If he ends up discarding the idea of fee increment due to pressures from the protesting students, one can only shake his head for the quality of education most of the students will receive. There are several ways to get back at the students;

1. Starve lecturers
2. Fire the top lecturers/Profs
3. Higher half baked and cheap lecturers
4. Deny payment for accreditations
5. Etc.

Since we are so good at electing weaklings and useless sets of Lawmakers, there is nothing anyone can do for these students than beg the Governor.

Just so you know, the students have tried every means of dialoging with the governor to no avail, as a matter of fact, there was no avenue granted by the governor to meet and discuss directly with the governor. Rather, the University governing council was made to mediate between the students and the government.

The leadership have had several meetings with the Governing council of the University on this issue which jas not yielded any fruit. They even had a PTA( it got to that) meeting where promises were made that the fees will be made affordable only for them to get the news that the fees have been reviewed to make AAUA, the lowest paying state University in Nigeria with fees between 23,300- 37,300 to 180,000 on the premises that the old fees can not buy a pair of shoes according to Mr Governor.

The Governor has delibrated shut every avenue for dialogue which was what necessitated the protest. And just so you know, the fee has since been removed from the Universities website since the protest started.

And talking about standards, the university was ranked by the United States (US) Transparency International Standards (USTIS) in 2014.
In 2014, two of it's product made a First class in the 2014 Bar Final Examination of the Nigerian Law school. Out of the 5,000+ that took the exams, four students made first class and two were from AAUA. One of them Opeyemi Akeem Alonge emerged the best nationally in the 2014 examination of the Nigerian Law School (NLS). This was with the 25,300 fees paid as at then.
This feat was repeated the following year by Miss Falade Faith the following year. She like those before her paid 25,300 as fees in AAUA.

The last administration was able to make things work by making at least 15% of the total budget go into Education. This was despite the recession in Nigeria as at then. This present administration has not see the need to fund the universities properly despite benefitting from several funds from the federal government. In close to two years, no tangible project has been initiated talkless of being completed, the free medical services to pregnant women has been stopped, they are now to pay between 25,000-50,000. Workers are being owed 6-9 months arrears despite Ondo state being an Oil producing state with little workforce size.

AAUA has been the only positive in Ondo state and since he wants to take it away from them, it must and will be resisted. He promised to make the moribound industries in Ondo state work and not increase tuition. He has failed on his promises and must be held accountable.
