Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court Abuja on Tuesday fixed June 5 to deliver judgment in the suit seeking information on the amount spent on President Muhammadu Buhari’s treatment in London.

Mr Tsoho fixed the date for judgment after listening to arguments of counsel and adopted processes.

The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1142/2017, was instituted by the Incorporated Trustees of Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative (ASRADI), led by its Executive Director, Adeolu Oyinlola.

In the suit, Godwin Emefiele, the governor of Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) was requested to disclose how much it cost tax payers money to pay for Buhari’s London medical bills.

The suit also sought to know how much it cost the country to keep the presidential and crew for 103 days at the Stansted Airport in the UK while President Buhari’s treatment lasted.

On the last adjourned date of February 16, the CBN and its governor had opposed the suit, arguing that it was not within their immediate responsibilities to disclose such information.

ASRADI had said in the suit that the CBN and its governor refused to honour its Freedom of Information request contained in its letter of October 19, 2017.

But, in their counter affidavit filed on Feb. 13, the CBN and its governor urged the court to reject the applicant’s prayers and dismiss the suit.

They also urged the court to vacate an earlier ex parte order granting leave to the applicant to apply for “a prerogative order of mandamus” compelling them to provide the information requested.

However, they had admitted receiving the October 19, 2017 letter from ASRADI, but forwarded it to the President’s Chief of Staff.

Among other things, ASRAD is seeking an order compelling the respondent to furnish it with information sought in the letter of October 19, 2017.

It also seeks a further order, mandating the CBN and its Governor to pay the plaintiff N10 million in damages for refusal to release information in respect of the letter dated October 19, 2017.

A man disappeard from his place of work for over 100 days to seek medical treatment in a foreign country with tax payers' money but bluntly refused to explain to the public that funded his treatment, what exactly happened to him and how much peoples' money he spent in hospital.

Same thing happened when he was asked to present his Certificate, he went to hire shameless SANs to defend him instead of showing the people, who are his employer, his certificate.

Maybe integrity has a different meaning in Nigeria

Hopefully the court rules in favor of the tax payers who funded Buhari's medical bills. This is is simply part of transparency. Nobody is asking for his private information we just need what was done with public funds.

Are we cursed?? angry undecided

I am tired of this country that things dont work the way it should undecided
It's frustrating, disappointing and depressing.
When shall we rise up and claim back our country from lawless politicians ..
Audi Ogbeh was a minister in 1982, now also a minister.
A politician will hoard the money meant for us only to bring it out during election nd we loose our senses doing whatever he asks us to do...
How long shall we continue like this?? ?

With this case Nigerians will know whether democracy is matured or not, whether Nigeria Court has the residue power to give fair judgement,as it is in South Africa and other developed countries.

We are not cursed as a country... Also rock is a cursed Estate.

Anyone who sits on that chair will always act like an animal. We probably need to change the capital of this country.

So common to know how much of public money that was spent when the president travelled for healthcare is now a court matter anyway i hope the federal government truely disclose the correct ammount that was spent.

I believe Buhari is not corrupt.

But, Honestly I don't know what he has against transparency!

This matter is too trivial to be allowed to go to court for.

How much did you spend? Abi person go beat am?

The government is indeed fighting corruption. At least, no ghost workers in the system again. Even with those that disappeared from duties for over 100 days with full salary intact. And those been employed with verified certificate. Nigeria is a scam!

I won't expect any meaningful judgement from this, APC always knows how to manipulate things in such situation thereby frustrating the hearing.

They won't like to be exposed...Remember their lord promised that no public office holder will be allowed to seek medical care outside the country, but he is also the first to break the promise alongside his son...

Lol. This will surely be a record breaking judgement.

If the Judge rules in favour of Bubu, then Nigerians will protest.

If the judge rules in favour of disclosure, bubu will arrest the judge or just ignore the judgement or just lie that he spent 20,000naira........only

Either way, Nigerians will protest.
