I intend buying a Nigerian used 2008 Toyota Camry SE or XLE. What are the things I should look out for while inspecting the car. Will a budget if 1.5-1.6 get me the car in good condition?

1.watch out for excessive oil consumption
2.Ensure the gear has not been converted from 13pin (U250E) to to 10 pin(U141E)
3.Check ac compressor and ensure it has not been tampered with(converting for Variable displacement type -automatic type to the fixed
displacement type-manual)
4.check for suspension wear (shock absorbers and linkages)
5. Get a sound technician to inspect the car for you
6. check for any sign of accident damage
7. Pray to God.


your budget is ok, but i suggest you have additional 200K to your 1.6 for a very clean example. Just in case

I would have said your diff. But you said the car is FWD.

I think you need to first be sure to remove the battery connection unless you have someone to keep it warm. When you return don't hesitate to change all the fluids (oil, coolant etc) before significant driving
