The cost of paying the new minimum wage in September would have been more manageable if the civil service had been slimmed down.

Yes, it will be costly slimming it down the civil service (funds though can easily be raised by selling a small stake in the NNPC/joint ventures with multinationals) but the long term benefit would have had a good fiscal bearing on the government purse.

Will the new minimum wage be inflationary? I expect the naira to experience a little tanking around September or perhaps by August in expecting of the new wages.

By the way, I just realised elections are next year. Are you thinking what I am thinking ?
