If it has to be sponsored by public funds in any form then it ought to be of economic benefit. It is criminal to waste scarce resources on religious endeavours which should be personal to adherents of any faith.

I can see it pained you. FG may stop sponsoring hajj which I also not in support, but individual will get the money for the spiritual journey. The obvious is that Allah had made it easier to get the money for whoever determined to go.
