President Buhari was right when he said that a large percentage of Nigeria youths are very lazy although he shouldn't have said so in the forum and occasion he did. There are undoubtedly many youths that are hardworking in this great country but many more are indeed lazy.

Before I begin to give my evidences, I like to point out here that their are three types of laziness. They are 1. Mental Laziness 2. Physical Laziness and Spiritual laziness.

Evidences of mental laziness are:

1. Examination malpractices. Most youths prefer to engage in exam malpractice rather than take their study serious. Most of our girls on campus sell their bodies for marks in several higher institutions.

2. Inability to think of what to do in the midst of unemployment is mental laziness. If you don't have a job, create one.

3. Over dependence on oil revenue by virtually every government is an evidences of mental laziness. The President and his cabinets are equally mentally lazy.

4. Importation of virtually everything we consume in this country points to mental laziness.

5. Submitting yourself to be killed on a daily basis by herdsmen is mental laziness. Think out a solution rather than cry to the government.

6. Carrying arms for social vices like robbery and ritual killings is a by product of mental laziness.

Evidences of physical laziness are:

1. Most of our youths shy away from physical work such as farming and craft work is the result of physical laziness.

2. Allowing oneself to be slaughtered by herdsmen is a pointer to physical laziness. If you don't have a gun to fight back, create other weapons. Dig trenches around your community and cover them up with leafs.

3. Looking for get rich quick schemes is pphysical laziness. This is why so many fall prey to Ponzi schemes so easily. Their is no short cut to wealth acquisition other than hard work.

4. Being used for thuggery instead of looking for legitimate work is physical and mental laziness. Election is around the corner, so many youths will submit themselves to be used as thugs for politicians. Others will sell their conscience and vote for the wrong person.

5. Sitting down doing nothing and waiting for government to pay money into your account as part of the amnesty program is physical laziness.

Evidences of spiritual laziness are:

1. Accepting a belief without personal study to ascertain if what you have be taught is true is spiritual laziness. This is why false prophets and teachers prey easily on gullible souls these days.

2. Following after miracles without scrutinizing the character that performs such miracles is spiritual laziness.

3. Looking for fast formula to pray and get result is also the result of spiritual laziness.

4. Paying prophets to see visions for you rather than learning how to pray yourself is spiritual laziness.

I could go on and on. Youths wake up. You have what it takes to succeed. Do something meaningful with your life. Shun crime and social vices. Dream big. Take over the leadership in this country rather than submitting yourselves as slaves to these unrepentant politicians.

Silence on This thread is a pointer that even many of the nairaland readers are guilty of points highlighted.
