The German Chancellor is the head of Government, just like PMB, Emanuel Macron, Teressa May and they all have the same diplomatic reference.


Angela Merkel is the head of the German government and the fact that we have a presidential system of government doesn't mean our president is above or more important than a prime minister.


It's like saying Teressa May of England is below PMB per diplomatic scale.

The fact that we have a presidential system of government doesn't mean our President is more powerful or must obtain better diplomatic priviledges than any prime minister or the German chancellor.

Again, is the Nigerian president more powerful diplomatically than the German chancellor or the British prime minister?

No.

The Chancellor's visit wasn't her first visit to the WH, she's been to the WH several times and even a State dinner was thrown in her honor, something only visiting powerful leaders get.

So, why did Emmanuel Macron get the prestigious State dinner at the White House last week and PMB didn't get a State dinner.? Is Macron not a prime minister? Is the German chancellor not a prime minister?

The President of Nigeria is also the head of the armed forces of Nigeria. In Germany, the Chancellor who is Angela Merkel is the head of government but Germany has a separate President who is Frank-Walter Steinmeier....they have a similar system to the British...this might explain the difference in their reception...not too sure
