Members of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers state who take action that will affect the smooth conduct of the Ward Congresses risk suspension or possible expulsion from the party.

This is according to the Rivers State Chairman of the APC, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya who spoke with newsmen in Port Harcourt.

Chief Ikanya said the APC at its State Executive Council meeting in Port Harcourt have decided to hold a hitch-free congress leading to the National Convention of the party.

He said the congress will be free and fair, adding that the rules of the party will be adhered to.

According to him, “We will try as much as possible to ensure that all guidelines of the party will be strictly followed.

“However in a situation where a guideline is breached, the guideline itself has provided punishment for those that will be found guilty of violating any part of the rule especially causing violence.

“The Congress is either going to be by election or by consensus. People can agree on a particular candidate and then where there is no agreement, they queue.

“The Committee we are going to set up will be made up of people who have integrity, people who will be transparent.”
