An Open Letter To Imo State Governor, Mr Rochas Okorocha
By Victor Ahaiwe

Dear Mr Governor.
It is said that the ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence by any good person. I have deligently been following up on your activities as the governor of Imo state since the last six and half years. Regrettably, all indications point to the fact that you're exactly what former President Olusegun Obasanjo told Imo people about you; a big thief. Unfortunately, we ignored his warning.

As a Nigerian in diaspora , I'm geniunely concerned about the way you have made a caricature of governance by reducing it to a family affair. This you have pursued as a policy and have relentlessly ensured the empowerment of your family members and in-laws to the exclusion of others.

As a leader, you should not be seen as a searcher for consensus but a moulder of consensus. It therefore stands to reason that your constituency is Imo state and you are expected to carry everyone along through the execution of projects that are beneficial to the citizens

Mr Rochas, there is no gain saying that your administration is a complete failure and that you have failed Imolites; your 6 1/2 years of leadership has put the state 60 yrs behind; you have succeeded in producing a toxic environment that is unconducive for any form of development, including your worst propaganda of free education. The policies you pursued during this period are indeed a deliberate attempt to put the state behind in all ramifications.I don’t know how much you were paid by the north to reduce Imo state to nothingness.

Needless to say that your policies justify the axiom that our thoughts and actions determine how we interpret the world, for, an individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concern to the broader concerns of all humanity.
Your greed and primitive way of wealth accumulation sucks. Ironically, you have placed your children in some foreign countries' best universities and continue to steal for them.

Perhaps you earnestly believe that they are slowpoke and lack the ability to succeed financially. Which is why you have gone on a stealing spree; stealing the state blind.

Sadly also, as a result of your petty mindedness, you have continued to surround yourself with sycophants and mediocres. You utterly failed to realise that when we hire people who are smaller than us, we become a company of dwarfs but when we hire people who are bigger than us, we become a company of giants.
I have decided to join my voice with other well meaning Imolites who realise that our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

Mr. Governor Rochas, Sir, You are the most unpatroitic governor the state has produced since its creation. This you have demonstrated not only in your sense or reasoning but through your actions. Using whatever satanic means at your disposal, you have successfully gagged the state and every other branch of government. The embecilic state house of Assembly has sold their souls and conscience to you; they have made themselves a tool for your use at your own pleasure! What a shame!

All truth passes through three stages, firstly, it is ridiculed second, it is violently opposed, thirdly, it is accepted as being self evident.
To Imolites, we must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope, faith in taking first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.
Every Imolite must decide whether he/she will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness of Mr Rochas.
Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed.
This is a call to action!!
