President Muhammadu Buhari has called for patience, maturity and orderliness as the nation heads into the 2019 elections, saying that from his own experience, he could tell that it is only God who determines winners of elections.

Speaking at the All Progressives Party’s (APC) Ward Congress held at Bayagida Model Primary School, Daura, Katsina state on Saturday, he, therefore, urged political parties, candidates and the electorate to put the country first and always remember that victory ultimately belongs to God.

He said: “After going to the court so many times to challenge results of elections in 2003, 2007 and 2011, and going up to the Supreme Court, I concluded that ultimately it is God who determines who will win elections, and in 2015 I got here.”

The president said he was not seeking re-election for frivolity or personal ambition but to serve the people, and see their lives improved.

According to him, his decision to seek a second term in office was therefore borne out of a deep passion to serve Nigerians, and not for personal gains.

President Buhari said the passion to serve and see real changes in the lives of Nigerians informed his choice to join partisan politics in the first place and inspired him to contest elections in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.

Buhari noted that his administration had already started the process of ensuring fairness, justice and equity, in spite of challenges, and would work hard to consolidate on the gains.

He added: “I am not in politics for fun, frivolity or to amass wealth, I have always been driven by a deep sense of commitment to make a difference to the lives of our people.

“After my retirement from the army, or forceful retirement, I sat back and watched as events unfolded on the political turf, and realised the country needed an intervention for fairness, justice and inclusion of Nigerians in the issues that affect their lives,’’ he said.

In his remarks, the Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari, said the process of electing the leaders of the party at the ward level was hitch-free, orderly and based on the constitution of the APC.

“What we have here are our leaders that were chosen based on consensus and we are happy that it reflects the will of the people and the APC constitution. We followed the process to also ensure that there is an affirmation,’’ he said.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Ward Congress, who is also the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq urged the party leaders to remain loyal and live up to expectations.

Lol I left and returned to PDP yet I'm still recognised, relevant and important to the party than you that didn't leave at all... It is called CLASS and VALUE!

Meanwhile, Atiku that has Never Won any primary election all his life despite three attempts and was severely beaten in 2014 by Rabiu Kwankwaso, and could only drag 3rd spot with invalid votes.

Same man that was kicked out of APC through strategic sidelining and not even a single Ward Chairman in Adamawa state nor councillor followed him to return to PDP that was POSITIONED by AHMED MAKARFI grin

Same Atiku whose candidate Prof Tunde Adeniran was severely beaten by Secondus and couldn't win a single seat in the NWC of PDP, unlike Makarfi that installed the POWERFUL National Secretary, Senator Tsauri (through his goodwill and influence) beside other national officers and refused to compromise and made it sweet for Uche Secondus to emerge National Chairman despite the machinations of Atiku.

Lest I forget, Atiku wasn't even allowed to vote in the National Convention despite being a "former Vice President" cheesy

Make we see how him want take win PDP ticket...

Kwankwaso coming 2nd with Kano and jigawa delegates essentially while Buhari won on the back of tinubu.
Anyway, the most maligned Atiku is actually the most potent to take on Buhari. PDP must not make the mistake oof falling into ApC's trap of defining candidates for it in the mirror of buhari!
I trust the PDP as the only truly Nigerian party to do the needful by presenting Atiku in a free and fair Primaries! By the way, Atiku won the primaries and general election in adamawa before OBj picked him as running mate. Get your fact right.

Makarfi needs the party to do it all but, PDP ain't in power therefore, the PDP needs the candidate that can take on the challenge by self first before the party.

Aside kaduna, makarfi is limited! Atiku needs no introduction just like PDP!

Anyway, let the best man wins ticket they all are pdp.

Atiku that got PDP ticket in 1998 as sole candidate and won 1998 governorship due to military preference for PDP then. The man that couldn't control PDP structure in Adamawa even as incumbent VP and his candidate was heavily beaten by Admiral Murtala Nyako in 2007. Atiku who himself was hugely defeated in 2007 despite being sole candidate of AC and couldn't even win his LGA in Adamawa despite having an incumbent Governor on his side. Atiku that contested and lost THREE Presidential Primary election (1992, 2011 and 2014) in a very sad manner.

Atiku that couldn't even secure Governorship ticket for his preferred APC candidate in Adamawa losing woefully to Nyako backed Jubrila Bindow in 2014. Someone that not even a single councillor or ward Exco member followed to PDP, neither was he allowed to install candidate in PDP NWC.

You dare compare such a man to Makarfi that installed 3 straight successors and has always held the party structure in his state, as well as expanded his grip at the National level through his Chairmanship. A man that installed NATIONAL Secretary of PDP, defeated Ali Modu Sheriff and made it easy for Secondus to come in.

He's the boss of all bosses... Comparing the political sagacity of Makarfi with Atiku is great injustice.

We'll see how Atiku can win PDP ticket

All the narrative won't fly! Every election has its undercurrents and dynamics distinctly different. A buhari that was seen as very beatable by PDP cos he was beaten thrice and has baggages, floored the PDP in 2015 cos the narrative was deeply painted as GEJ/PDP arrogantly corrupt therefore a need for 'Mr integrity' Buhari!

That did the magic!

2019 is not a search for sainthood or a newer version of buhari, no it is not! 2019 is for bridge building, reclaiming Nigeria for all Nigerians, effective leadership, true democratic leadership by tested democrat, a Global figure that has played on the natiional/international scene. Above all a leader who is a doer who understands the link between politics and economy.

It is about finding the opposite of buhari! Here fits Atikunation!

By the way @Tonyebarcanista do you know it is more difficult for OBJ to win councilorship election in Ogun state than nigeria's presidency and Obama to be American president than kenya's?

That should put some perspective to you!

Once again let this man bring his certificate, the only certificate he can boast of is his birth certificate...

The only result he has is the one given to him from UK diagnosing his stupidity...

To be frank with you guys I don't blame him for calling Nigerians youths lazy, if not his father that was so lazy that he couldn't cross the road to buy condom.

We are being cajoled to go get voters card...to vote for who? APC will field a Satan, PDP will present Lucifer, SDP will showcase the Devil...and so on. How do we pick who to embrace among the Lion...the tiger...and a crocodile.

Funny.
' Only God can decide the Winner'

This sentence is an undeniable evidence of the hypocritic nature of the man's existence.

Same Buhari that promised to make the country ungovernable for someone after he lost an election, and further proclaimed that 'Monkey and Baboon blood will flow' is now an advocate of peaceful acceptance of defeat. After effectively putting in place a mechanism that would override the franchise of the electorate and rig the election for himself. What a devious hypocrite!

'The president said he was not seeking re-election for frivolity or personal ambition but to serve the people, and see their lives improved.'

Which 'People' is he serving??
The same people that have called for his resignation time and time again??
Or the murderous breed of Fulani herdsmen decimating the people that he refused to checkmate?
Or 'Cattle People'??

The delusion of the man is worthy of special recognition in the congregation of special delusions.

Wrong. The voters can say who wins elections. This is for sure, no need to invoke the supernatural.

But seriously, when the words "fairness and justice" emanate from PMB's mouth, I can't help but lol. This is the one Nigerian president that can be adjudged to be the least concerned with fairness and justice, or even the appearance of such.
