Drastic problems call for drastic solutions. This is a popular adage that is playing itself out within Africa Independent Television, AIT.

As it is now, two senior newsroom officers are not retired or sacked but humbled.

These are the presenter of Focus Nigeria, Gbenga Aruleba and Executive Director, News, Imoni Amarere.

On his own part, Gbenga has been repeatedly accused of bias and ill- mannered while presenting the programme, Focus Nigeria. His attitude which may be referred to as uncouth dispensation has robbed the programme of good patronage from politicians and prospective advertisers.

The Focus Nigeria is a project of Chairman, Emeritus, Chief Dokpesi Senior.

Some 48 hours ago, Gbenga Aruleba was suspended from presenting the programme and instructed to handover to a well cultured Amaechi Anakwe.

With Amaechi, people say, viewers are expected to start watching tension-free Focus Nigeria.

It is also believed that discussions will now be more robust as the new presenter, Amaechi, a doctorate degree holder has all it takes to be referred to as intelligent and good natured as against the former presenter who we are yet to confirm if he ever passed through the university for a first degree.

Unfortunately, a school of thought believes that the Chairman, Emeritus has got carried away by the programme thinking there is no one else in the world that can handle it forgetting that for every programme, there are millions of presenters who will do better. Gbenga, all along has therefore been mystified unnecessarily. Even the reporters he supervises experience bullying more than mentoring having hijacked the apparatus of the newsroom supervision through all means, against management wishes.

However, members of staff are seen gathering in circles on the Kpaduma hills to discuss these two men. They feel time is up but they ask, "where would these boastful people go?". They answer, " NOWHERE; THEY DARE NOT RESIGN!" And indeed, right now, they are calling on friends and relatives of Chairman to reconsider.

AIT is so financially porous where stealing of company funds is the order of the day. That's true, if not, why would these gentlemen be receiving humiliation and they are not leaving?" DO THEY LOVE DOKPESI THAT MUCH THAT THEY WON'T LEAVE HIS STATION ALONE?".

A section of the workforce is however hoping that some unseen forces, possibly engaged from the village will not stampede the board or Chairman to rescind its decision. And if they do, it will not be the first. Chairman and his team may later find out that they are just building monsters against themselves.

You captured it quite well op. You're spot on about Gbenga. I've always said as an interviewer, your job is to ask real topical questions and get answers from the interviewee and not impose your view on the interviewee. I've lost count of the number of times Gbenga was literally engaging his guest in hot arguments, talking down his guests or sometimes mocking his guests when they have different opinions from him. Whenever an interviewer finds himself talking more than or as much as the interviewee then something is wrong already because the interview is about getting the guest's views and not that of the interviewer.

This is a politically sponsored piece by PDP and its apologists who have this bias view of Gbenga and see him as pro APC simply because of his unbiased analysis abt PDP wch doesnt go dwn well with PDP and Dokpesi.

Truth is Gbenga Aruleba has no equal in terms of journalism and presentation of the programme FOCUS NIGERIA.

What frank edoho is to WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE, that is what Gbenga Aruleba is to FOCUS NIGERIA.

if it is not gbenga,it can never be like gbenga
