FULFIL YOUR PROMISE TO VICTIMS OF YOUR DEMOLITION EXERCISE, OSUN PDP TELLS AREGBESOLA
Osun state chapter of the People's Democratic party has called on the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to urgently fulfil a promise he made in June 2014 to hundreds of house and shop owners who were affected by his demolition exercise in parts of Osogbo, the state capital.
In a release issued by the State chairman of the PDP, Hon Soji Adagunodo ,the party recalled that on the 18th of June 2014, the state governor in a meeting with the affected persons to ask for their support ahead of his second term bid, promised to pay them appropriate compensation before the end of that year.
" As usual with Ogbeni Aregbesola, that promise remains unfulfilled almost four years after. This has forced the affected landlords in Ajegunle, Igbona, Ayetoro and other places to begin a series of paid advertisements on an Osogbo based private Radio station to plead with the Governor to fulfil his promise. "
We have it on good authority that the Governor has shunned all entreaties made to him by these business owners, most of whom are senior citizens who have contributed immensely to the development of Osun state before he and his team came over from Lagos.
The PDP also notes with deep concern that some of these property owners have died out of frustrations in the last four years while many others have had to live in abject poverty as a result of the destruction of their means of livelihood without compensation.
For the avoidance of doubt, this action of the Governor violates Section 44 of the 1999 Nigerian constitution and the Land Use Act which require government to pay timely and adequate compensation to citizens whose properties are acquired for any reason.
In any case, even good conscience demands that a governor who swore to look after the welfare of his citizens acts in accordance with his oath of office and a promise he freely made.
We therefore urge Ogbeni Aregbesola to urgently consider the plight of these citizens and pay them compensation on the destroyed properties in line with the dictates of the laws of the land and best global practices.
We equally call upon civil society organisations who have not been compromised in their pursuit of public good to rise in defence of these fellow citizens and demand that the Governor attends to their case immediately.

Leave out partisan politics, it must have been tough on those people in all sincerity. A good number of them became tenants overnight. I listened to one of their pleas on rave Fm and I was brought to tears. People dey suffer honestly.
God will help Mr Rauf to fulfill his promises to all and sundry

70% Or more of those who had C of O issued to them ( for their properties) have had the values of their homes paid back to them or relocated or both

if you hear any complains now , it's probably those people whose houses weren't documented but still need compensation
