The Myth Of Foreign Direct Investment FDI Debunked by NASTYNASOSO: 12:43pm On May 13, 2018 |
1. Development and nation building can only come from within. Chinese revolution was fueled by 50 million of its citizens in diaspora. Local direct investment n not foreign direct investment is where our template got it wrong by relying on FDI as indication of foreign confidence. Sorry that will flow in to serve their interest only . 2. Encourage massive saving culture as opposed to consumption in the society. Consumption culture is actually alien to Africa and more of European or American. An average Indian family today saves at least 50% of combined income achieved through purchase of jewelries, bank notes and normal savings account. Asians generally have developed a dependable savings culture too. This provides the banks with the latitude to keep on extending low interest loans to SMEs. 3. National economies are largely driven through SMEs and relying on rudimentary indigenous technology. India, Bangladesh, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Brazil, etc have all proven the viability of this model in solving huge economic problems of areas like Agriculture. 4. Massive investment in Education n ensuring global competitiveness. Today Indians and Chinese are all over Europe,/ US simply because of focused policy. India, during Indira Ghandi declared green revolution with the sole aim of using agricultural technology to feed a nation of a billion people. Today india is not only feeding itself but has attained the status of net exporter of agricultural products, farm implements and among leaders in agro technology. Rajeev Ghandi, Indhira's son declared ICT revolution n today India has more computer programmers than any nation on earth which extends to medicare etc Asian countries have significantly catched up not through rhetorics but by methodical planning and strong focus 5. Political stability grown out of modifications of local systems. In Nigeria what is wrong with the traditional system of government? Even the colonialists used the Emirs effectively but yet the system was abandoned by us upon attainment of independence. Most of the seriius issues happening today would have been better tackled. The almajiri menace, would have been controlled by the traditional institutions. Boko Haram would have been contained if not nipped in the bud if only the various local chiefs of Maiunguwa, dagaci are still empowered. Wholesome adoption of the Presidential system of government with its colossal overhead costs drain resources that are supposed to be chaneled into schools, hospitals and infrastructure end up feeding a tiny privileged do-nothing politicians. China is following its version of political arrangement and it is thriving. Indonesia too. Both have incoroirated local content to their form of governance. Africa however swallowed hook, line and sinker, a foreign template and ultimately, leading to poor governance which breeds nepotism and destruction of the fabric of nationalism..... One can go on n on.... 2 Likes |

All this Igbos with jaundiced n pathetic opinion. Why did China not become world power before the British released Hong Kong to them 1997 ? FDI was a developmental tool during Jonathan, sadly it is giving every Igbo heart attack now that Buhari is doing well at it. What sort of a tribe are this people for God sake ? Await for the Igbo mod to ban my comment. 1 Like |
