Nigeria launches anti-corruption website

Nigerian civic and law organisations are leveraging technology to fight corruption in the country. With the help of the United States Diplomatic Mission to Nigeria, the web-based platform "Report Yourself" was launched in Lagos. The platform empowers and encourages ordinary citizens to fight and report incidents of everyday corruption. The cost of corruption "should not only be measured in billions of currency but in the daily cost to hard working Nigerian citizens", said Deputy Chief of the US Mission in Nigeria, David Young, during the launch. The "Report Yourself" platform is a collaborative effort between Nigerian law enforcement agencies, religious and civil society organisations, and the US Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement. "Report Yourself" offers Nigerians a way to instantly report corruption and bribery, including the option of filing an official compliant with the Nigerian Police Force Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit.
