Any public holidays during the week, I don't know anything about Islam.

No holiday

It's just the beginning of the fasting month for Muslims

During this period the Muslims will fast for 30days

I hope you've learned something new about Muslims today

Shalom

Ramadan Crescent was NOT sighted today, hence 1st Ramadan 1439 will be on Thursday, May 17th, 2018.

Who is the mouth piece that sent this news?
the news was posted around 6;24 by the Op.
Now what time did the sun set and moon searched for? And within a few minutes the news was online? It just didnt add up and the news was not from those authorised to speak on the matter

why would anyone just make an announcement on their own, the Sultan told us to anticipate the moon on Wednesday so we can start on Thursday or we fast on Friday, someone with no legal standing just rose up all because he owns a website declared Thursday as the first of Ramadan!
If someone start seeking wrath on such people they're say we are too fanatical, but let's look at the number of people the blogger would have mislead if Ramadan does not start on Thursday but Friday?!

let's be watchful of our words and the news we passed around

If moon is not sighted today tuesday, definitely first day of ramadan would be thursday when sha' aban would have been 30 by wednesday. The conditions to start ramandan are just two.1 when moon is sighted or 2 when sha'aban reaches 30 then we can start ramadan. May Allah guide us right

This misleading rubbish should be deleted

The 29 of shabban is Wednesday not today. You people should learn to follow news from trustworthy sources not bloggers who are out for mischief

It's very obvious you're not a Muslim, it's better you don't post topics on a subject you have no knowledge of. Today is 28th day of the month of Sha'aban, the month could roll into 30 days if the moon is not sighted tomorrow 29th. Meaning the fast could commence on Friday. Nobody has made any announcement yet, so let's not mislead people
