The heavy rainfall experienced in Kano last Friday was not only a sign of the commencement of this year’s wet season but also a relief to the biting heat experienced in the state recently.

Although this was supposed to be a blessing due to the hot and dried weather lingering for a very long time.

However, some public schools were affected by the flood, which sacked students and teachers from the premises.

The school authority had no option than to send their students home as most of its classes and the school premises were submerged since Friday.

Various School Authorities have promised to look into the situation and take necessary measures to stop the event from reoccurring.

According to a member of the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Malam Basheer Bashir, the blockage of waterways in the area was responsible for the flood.

He said, “This is the first time the school is experiencing such a horrible incident and it is caused by some new residential structures erected around the school recently which blocked the waterways.

“This is the beginning of the rainy season and it has rained only once. What do you expect would happen when the rainy season commenced fully? I think there is a need for the school authority, the PTA and members of the community to do something in addition to what the state government will make to address the situation.”

That's the same Kano where the govt is spending over N300 million on Ramadan fast.

The irony of this arrangement is that when they want to lobby for more of oil money they use educational and infrastructural disadvantages as well as equal rights as their reasons, once they get the allocation they invest it in a stupid things.

They loot and share the bulk of it then bribe their brainwashed and poor among them.

Where are the southerners? The docile and cowardly southerners should be able to challenge the continual sharing of their resource to people who will use their educational backwardness to justify huge allocation but channel the funds towards religious activities.

The southern politicians are so uninspiring.

The north has many issues. The elites are comfortable with feeding the people with Islam, a tool for social engineering. That place would have been worse than Mali if not for the south. They should forever be grateful to lugard and all his people if not religious crase would have destroyed them.

.

Why have we sold ourselves to foolishness in this country.

We are industriously foolish, conscientiously indolent! When will we TRULY change direction?

Rains fall EVERY year in season, children need to go to school safely and comfortably IN the rains, is it possible? YES

....but politicians will continue to divert development funds and many of us UNLOOK and rationalise the nonsense because

He is OUR TRIBE, He is OUR SON, He is PAYING ME MONEY, He is OUR CHURCH / MOSQUE MEMBER.....

Nigeria WILL NEVER change like this.

Rationalising utter mediocrity for personal gain.

NIGERIA CAN EXPERIENCE RADICAL DEVELOPMENTAL CHANGE

IF! IF! IF! We are sincere!

If i become the governor of any state, aside proper clearing of the drainages, 2 things i will ban are sachet water and the foamy 'take-away' pack.
These two are the major cause of blockage in our drains.

So many things wrong with the leaders in the North. It's difficult to see a performing northern governor. It's more like the problems they inherited is more than the allocation which of course isn't true.

Just close the schools for a few days.

Though the government can and should do better, flooding happens even in far more advanced nations.
