The 'Midas Touch' of the Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has not only reigned in Abia State but has gone beyond the State. The Wife of the Governor recently sponsored the Nigeria team to the
International/African Para Badminton competition held in Uganda. This was an event the Federal government ought to have sponsored. Because of her interest in human capital empower, she sponsored them.

It is heartwarming to note that the Nigeria Para Badminton players returned home with 19 medals, including seven gold and five silver in the Africa championships that held from April 30 to May 4. In an interview published by the News Agency if Nigeria (NAN), Oyebanji Bello, the athlete that won six medals in the two competitions, on behalf of the team, commended the wife of Abia State Governor, Nkechi Ikpeazu, for her support. The team said, emphatically, that the country would have missed the two competitions if not for her financial support.

In his words, “this achievement is massive for us as players and we are proud to represent the country well in the two championships. “Our successful outing was made possible by God and the Abia State Governor’s wife for her timely support in ensuring our participation."

The team went ahead to plead with other States to join Mrs Ikpeazu in assisting her support sports development.
“We want other States government and the sports ministry to support the growth of the sports.”

Indeed, the Governor's wife's interventions in helping people with special need has lead her to also sponsored Nigerian deaf women association, through, the Ministry of Special Duties/Vulnerable Groups, for national conference & issuance of certificate.

Ministry of Special Duties/Vulnerable Groups being one of the newly created Ministries by the Governor Ikpeazu led administration has not relented in discharging its duties. The commitment of Deaconess Precious Achumba, the Honourable Commissioner for Ministry of Special Duties and Vulnerable Groups to ensuring the Ministry achieves its objectives is commendable. The Commissioner is not leaving any stone unturned to giving the Ministry a quick rise in realizing the visions of Governor Ikpeazu for this vulnerable group of Abians. No wonder, the ministry's vision is in line with the call of the Wife of the Governor and the duo have been complementing each other to give Abians the needed attention and assistant.

There is no doubt that the Wife of the Governor would sustain her call in helping the needy and less privileged individuals both in Abia and beyond. The prayers and good wishes of these set of people would certainly continue to make ways for the Wife of the Governor and the administration of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

For this good gesture to continue, every Abia person or resident should endeavour to get registered with INEC so as to get his/her PVC for voting the Governor again come 2019.
