Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by Nobody: 12:24pm On May 28, 2010
Not only Kanu, but Segun Odegbami, Rashidi Yekini, Sunday Oliseh and Okocha JJ. They can alll share their experience at the world cup!
Nonsense!! At what age did kanu start playing football? If assholes like him don't retire then i wonder when the likes of Rabiu Ibrahim, Macurlay Christantus and Sani Emmanuel will don the National Jersey. The guy is a selfish and has no self respect.

With or without him we are losing all our group matches WE ARE GOING TO BE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF AFRICA!!! All thanks to corruption.

The problem with us in Africa is we don't know how to quit when the ovation is still loud, If Kanu was a Brazilian, an Argentine or a Spaniard will we in the world cup, He has done his bit, for this we are all very grateful, now is the time to leave the stage.

Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by jamace(m): 5:51am On May 29, 2010
YES. Kanu wants to quit active football after this World Cup. For that reason, he should be allowed to fulfil that dream. He has paid his dues for this country. Lets just grant him that honour.
Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by Wadosky(m): 5:51pm On May 29, 2010

Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by bowei(m): 12:09am On May 30, 2010
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!Kanu's tricks are over since the age grade competition, if you guys desperately need Kanu to perform or motivate Nigeria players send him to Coach Siasia,he can join his(Siasia) team, His experience, expertise and talents are too minute for the Super eagles, and today's football!!!!!!!!!!!Let him shine and retire with the flying eagles!!

no!
Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by wirinet(m): 9:27am On May 30, 2010
Do you people want to kill kanu for his family? you guys no like kanu at all. Do you people not know that bone injury after the age of 40 will never heal?. Let kanu go to South Africa as part of the technical crew and not a player. We cannot afford to take a player who can play only 20mins of active football.

Zidane retired from international football at the height of his football career for god sake. Even ronaldinho that is still playing very well in a bigger team than kanu is not going to the world cup.
Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by femmy2010(m): 2:47pm On May 30, 2010
HIS EXPERIENCE IS WELL NEEDED
Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by wirinet(m): 3:18pm On May 30, 2010
His experience is needed where? on the bench or on the field?. And if it is on the field, how many mins will he be able to provide that experience in a game of 90 + mins?.

We are talking about the World cup here, not nations cup. You will be playing against a very fit Argentinian team and a Korean team that can run non stop for over 120mins.
Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by femmy2010(m): 3:23pm On May 30, 2010
Maybe if an experienced OLD MAN Roger milla was not taken to Italia 90 maybe Camry would not have been placed on the map of world soccer.

You cannot compare Roger Milla to Kanu on so many fronts, first Milla was an out and out striker, so his job was mainly to finish the work done by the midfielders. He almost never crosses the half way mark. Kanu on the other hand is more of a midfielder, he is expected to run the whole length of the midfield, which requires much more stamina.

Then, Milla was able to score 4 goals at Italia 90, but when he was brought back again in USA 94, the Cameroonian team was playing short one, there were beaten mercilessly.

Take a pick Young Ayegbeni and an Old Kanu?

Non of the above, both are too old to withstand the rigours of a world cup game for 90 mins.
Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by femmy2010(m): 3:50pm On May 30, 2010
But the fact remains that a weak and ineffective Ayegbeni would be at the world cup.I would prefer an old Kanu to that.
Re: Should Kanu Make The 23 Man List? by matoyeh(m): 12:41pm On May 31, 2010

Iam sorry, but it is you that lacks a basic understanding of modern football. Modern football discourages straitjacket compartmentalization of players into positions, especially in the midfield. Modern football requires physical fitness , - ask morihno, Wenger or Ferguson, who impose very strick physical and dietary regime on their players.

Kanu had not been very fit since after his arsenal days, and had had an outstanding performance since then.
