"Lokili" is dog in Ondo language, Ondos take is that the name "aja" is not dignifying enough for dog which is a staple food for them.

Not all animals are named by English, they adopted native names too.

Contrary to your opinion, Èkun as a tiger's name had existed long before the arrival of Europeans/Colonial masters in Yoruba land. In fact, its skin is amongst the paraphernalia you find in the Yoruba's King's palace and also with Princes in the ancient time to show status.

I have made my point, no further arguments, tiger is different from leopard.

What's Yoruba for Kangaroo, Koala or Panda?

Well, it is a Yoruba word for Camel. I learned the meaning through my father which is quite a very long time . I am not sure if it is èdè àyálo because the camel in different culture was used for war expedition, travelling as a result of its strength and domestication of it for consumption. All these changed over time although Yoruba had contact with Hausas and borrowed few words that I know of which were basically as a result of non-existence of such in Yoruba land but I may agree to it being shared but not of Hausa's origin because anciently, Yoruba was a very advanced Race and more like a wealthy confederate Nation.

Well, I dont know,so kindly teach all to learn . I am sure you dont know much about ancient Yoruba history and their worldview. As far back as 11th-12th century, Camel had been known to Yoruba people. Perhaps, you should dig the past on Yoruba so as to differentiate the Ìgbálodè(modern-coined and adopted) words and from the ancient past.

Not at all because I dont need you to teach me what you cant defend its history. Maybe Camel came down from heaven in your own school of thought?. This is a forum that you need be ready for any question, so Kindly defend your opinion on what said and not giving option. And I dont need to study Hausa language because it is a waste of time sudying a language without accruable economical benefit to it but I know Yoruba dún káà. Paraventure I need to verify etymological word of Hausa's, I know how to go about it .

Yoruba :Rakumi
English :Camel
