Because the A/C in your car system is powered by your engine, it pulls energy from it during operation, which can have an effect on engine performance. You’ve likely noticed your car’s engine RPMs increasing at idle when the compressor kicks on. It does this to offset the power drawn by the air conditioning system.

How much power is variable and depends on the car. A small engine will have its power sapped much more by the A/C system than a large engine.

On average it is said that an A/C system running will sap up to 10-15% of the engines power.

The net result is that the car will use more fuel as it uses more power to offset the A/C to maintain the same revs.

yes, this your explanation is undanstandable. but what i keep wondering about is "about the electric cars" how is their own AC powered? and it seems instead of consuming fuel, it will be running down the vehicle's charging, guess right?
