African Youth Union Commission's Speech On Nigerian Democracy Day by Nobody: 9:46am On May 29, 2018
29th May, 2018

As we celebrate Democracy Day today, let’s cherish the grace of Almighty God upon our great nation NIGERIA and her various leadership since independence even as we march towards democratic elections in 2019.

The question many are asking is have we benefited in the dividend of democracy and what will the African Youth Union Commissiondo differently or how will they engage people to keep hope alive to realize the New Nigerian Dream

A lot of people have lost confidence in our democracy as a result of the assault on our democracy ranging from the use of government apparatus to impeach or kidnap a sitting Governor, the use of Police, EFCC, DSS to harass perceived enemies, budget padding, suspension of lawmakers that expresses their view, secrecy in the salary and allowance of lawmakers, etc.

Provision of security of life and properties of its citizenry has become a mirage. People now sleep in fears. Indeed, Nigeria’s democracy has been raped, all manner of stories are branded to portray democracy as striving but without results.

One particular is the nosediving into landscape illusion of our nascent democratic development from a people oriented path an elitist enclaves of moribund hoard of heavyweights whose love for the Nigerian nation has been sold and bought.

However, there is a great hope for our democracy come 2019. AYUC is developing among youth, women and children through requisite leadership tsunami that will over turn the status quo in order to build Nigeria.

Nature and posterity, occassioned by the will and tenacity of the Nigerian situation, of many who want to see Nigeria grow, whose hope are fainting, whose interests are targeted at freeing the country from the claws of marauding musketeers and political night riders, ethnic jingoist, religious bigots, etc.

From the various perspectives of AYUC evolutionary journey, it doubt new that it was established by a Pan African principles and practice to prove our sincerity in building designed and committed to leading the nation democratically forward in absolute righteousness, peace and unity, free of corruption, blood shedding, sexual harassment, wantom killings and destructions, and in absolute love of all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.

The good news is that with AYUC empowering the right leadership framework and application of our rules of engagements, with Women and Youths as Drivers, especially in leadership at all levels of government, from 2019, the corruption virus shall be wiped off and gone forever!

AYUC shall encourage and empower the youth and women for participation in partisan politics at all tiers of Government. The target is to achieve near 100 percent employment accros the nation, especially in our #NotTooYoungToParticipate Project with policy inclusion, political participation and engagements as precipe for national and continental integration, restructure, retooling and rebirth.

Because we are accelerating cultural, socioeconomic and political integration of all peoples devoid of their affiliations, the AYUC is resolved to through innovative partnership achieve the following:

~ AYUC shall enhance true democratic culture and affirmative action to ensure a 50% – 60% participation of women in politics and governance.

~ AYUC shall facilitate the participation of Nigerians in Diaspora in the political and economic re-engineering of the country.

~ AYUC shall encourage various strategic stakeholders, including the diplomatic Corp and the private sectors to devote 10-30% of the income of Nigeria (amounting to about US$80 billion annually) to provide intervention programmes and direct assistance to women, the unemployed, orphans, persons with disabilities, the aged (70 years and above), priests and imams.

With this facility, AYUC is hopeful that would help facilitated poverty reduction or that dependency (the bane of violent extremism amongst youths) will be totally and completely eradicated from the NEW NIGERIA project.

~AYUC shall build interfacing platform for first Responder intervention working with relevant stakeholders including government and private sector to build assymetric and symmetric engagements tools towards the deployment of state-of-the-art Security and ICT integrated surveillance infrastructure to ensure fortified and highly secure borders around Nigeria against illegal immigration and associated transnational organized crime such as human, weapons, drug trafficking, smuggling etc.

The AYUC’s Oath of national and continental virtues is a proclamation of the African Rebirth crusade, and this is the only antidote that can totally and completely wipe out corruption from. Africa and by inference NIGERIA and deliberately and consciously empower young Nigerians to achieve competence and professionalism to deliver a NEW democratic and prosperous NIGERIA that will be to the benefit of all Nigerians.

AYUC through the Strong Tower of domesticating the 17Goals of the SGDs, the 7 aspirations of the AU-Agenda 2063 and the African Youth Charter, to generate the spirit of love amongst all ethnic nationalities in Nigeria and make the Nigerian nation the most developed and most habitable in the world within the next 50 years!

AYUC is about all-inclusive and participatory Leadership Revolution!

HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY!!

His Excellency,
Carl Oshodi (PhD),
Executive Chairperson,
African Youth Union Commission (AYUC).
