Its been firmly implanted since Gowan. The only way to stop it is to get legislators to end it. If you want complete break down of secruity funds check my other thread.

Security votes is firmly in our constitution and it is immune from oversight, undersight or any other sight by anybody or institution.
Just like immunity for president and governors, the constitution needs to be amended before security votes can be stopped.

Sun newspaper and publishing of false title yet again!

Why portray the FG in bad light when the report clearly indicated that state governments got a whopping $619 million out of the total of $670m, meaning that FG's share was only $51m?

Other major newspapers carried the report correctly, without any dubiously false slant like this one! These are examples of how other major newspapers carried the correct title (with facts):

Transparency International accuses FG, states of misusing $670m

FG, states squander $670m - OAK TV

[b][b]https://www.oak.tv/newstrack/federal-republic-nigeria/

Transparency International, a global anti-corruption body, yesterday alleged that the federal and state governments in Nigeria would be expending an estimated $670 million (N241.2 billion) in respect of “security votes” in the build up to the 2019 elections. Most of the estimated $670 million of security votes is disbursed by state governments, with federal spending making up only $51 million.

The issue about security votes is that until the Nigerian Constitution is amended to stop it, there is nothing anyone can do about it...

We should rather encourage the National Assembly to amend that part of the Constitution than masturbating on a false thread because of your hatred for Buhari, who, by the special grace of God, will be sworn-in for a 2nd term on May 29 2019!!!

You dont need to amend constitution just pass a law. Theres nothing in constitution justifying it's existence.

I did read the report took since I like primary sources. To the contrary secruity votes sre mention no where in constitution. The report already explained the origins are a carry over from millitary rule. You're thinking of contingencies fund which is different from secruity vote.
This makes getting rid of this abomination easier.

Unlike security votes, the executive must
justify to legislators any withdrawal from this contingency fund.10 The ‘Service Wide Vote’—a massive source of extra-budgetary cash that Ministry Departments and Agencies (MDAs) can apply to draw upon—also resembles a security vote.

Then they will come and tell us he is fighting corruption when this old relic has turned Nigerian democracy into military dictatorship ran by nepotism to enrich his friends and family at the country's expense.

That should be no news for observant Nigerians.

False. Monies Dasuki shared was not budgeted for security votes. They were monies budgeted for equipments to fight Boko Haram. Most of the time the monies were withdrawn from central bank without any budgetary provisions.

Did you want change? Did you not vote continuity? It is highly ironic that people that wanted continuity are screaming "we are not seeing any change", while the people that voted change are not complaining.

Im not familiar with the mans case. I would say his case is a bit worse since he recieved illegal transfer and pocketed cash. The secruity votes is bad either way and needs to end.

This is evident to the fact i have always point out, that Corruption in Nigeria has been institutionalized and its already a system that can not be dealt with easily...This security vote has been ongoing for years and Governors are not ready for such system to be abolished...
even if the FG try to stop this funds the state governors will definitely rally round to tackle such from FG...So these is not the present administration faults but a system failure in Nigeria....

I can say without any form of doubt that security votes is major reason why most of these politician wants to die to become governor or president.

It's the easiest means of embezzling public fund.

I heard that it's the 5% of every allocation given to each state that the governor would take as security votes, like the office of the president is entitled to 5% of revenue generated every month as security votes no wonder Dansuki became father Christmas during the last regime.

Any contestant with a promise of abolishing security votes should be considered as the right candidate for president come 2019.

Is Buhari president of only those who voted for him?
Is he not president of the entire country?
Did he not make his campaign promises to all Nigerians?
Must one be parochial like the 97% vs 5% Buhari to be his supporter
