Their demands are ridiculous. If you want to earn like doctors, go to medical school and be a doctor. In fact, their jobs may become non existence in the future. Their jobs can be conducted effectively by Robots/Artificial intelligence.

You can imagine a health worker who went to school to study pharmacy. Rather than look for industries to make drugs, he/she dispenses drugs in a hospital and now wants to earn like a doctor. Na wa oh. Robots can dispense drugs!

At the end of the day, will the federal government honour any decision mediated by the Industrial Court? This strike, Jones and NMA is all about money money politics!

Johesu don't know how to lobby! They are fighting the minister to increase their pay, but have not shown to the minister what he will get in return for jacking up their pay.In Nigeria nothing goes for nothing!

NMA know how to lobby their way! They tax themselves, by deducting raw cash from doctors salaries, contribute it to one pool and splash the dough on the minister of health and everyone else concerned.

They don't mind collecting 50k from each doctor in federal Government payroll in Nigeria and then splash the minister of health with say 20million or 22million naira, to increase their pay! After collecting 22million from NMA or thereabout, he sign whatever pay increase NMA and ARD demands for!

So what this strike has shown is that, JOHESU does not want to splash money on the minister, to make their own money!

If Johesu leaders give the minister of health say 10million for example has gift, o boy, Adewole will sign that paper sharply and order ministry of health, budget and what have you to increase Johesu pay!

Johesu leaders have not understood this simple effective cunning man die, cunning man bury am logic of Nigerian politicians.

It was a strike that was ill-conceived,with ulterior motives and with an agenda that was doomed before it even started.
There was no way any government, even that headed by a dullard could meet the pay demand because if the pay demand of JOHESU was met, that of doctors would have to also be increased to meet with that parity, lest they embark on their own strike, which effectively shuts down all medical care.
Pharmacists, nurses and other allied health professionals should have a body of their own, seperate from that of gatemen, clerks, security men and cleaners in hospitals. Its stupid for these set of health workers to be under the same body because their professional calling is being used by the other unprofessional workers to stifle the health sector and cause unnecessary friction with unrealistic demands.
I feel doctors would even be more sympathetic to some of the demands of allied professionals if they are presented under a professional umbrella because when grouped with other workers, the demands would always look unrealistic and be opposed by any right thinking person.

My father died this afternoon because of this strike. He had stroke caused by a tumor in the brain (high grade glioma) and was supposed to have been operated on in university of Abuja specialist teaching hospital before they went on strike.

I've been reading your comments on this Johesu issue since it started. I begin to wonder if you are truly a doctor that you claim to be, let alone a consultant. Your comments are always filled with many curse words and attacks. Is everything okay with you? Do you have financial gains from the rubbish you post as comments?

The message is now clear, you can only earn what a doctor earns only if you go to medical school and earn the degree, I mean the real MBBS degree, not Doctor of Pharmacy, Optometry or Medical Lab science degrees.
You're less informed on this issue. You don't have to comment sir.

The foundation of JOHESU is faulty at it's core. Every member has this mindset that "WE ARE UNITED AGAINST DOCTORS". Doctors are supposed to be seen as their benefactors, but they see them as oppressors. The association gives their members FALSE HOPES that they can achieve the status of a doctor through confrontation with doctors instead of through academic means (Studying Medicine). They have also brainwashed their members to think that you are nobody in the health sector if you are not a doctor (This is FALSE) . If you distinguish yourself as a nurse or pharmacists, you'll get the respect you deserve, even more than some doctors. I have many examples of highly respected nurses and pharmacists in the country that you'll never see in the gathering of JOHESU. These are nurses and pharmacists who have made names for themselves and even professors of medicine accord them their respect.

Lastly I'll like to advise the nurses and pharmacists. You are being used by these other guys. Medicine and dentistry, pharmacy and nursing are the 3 core clinical speciality. These other guys are upgraded technicians (they used to be diploma courses). They are using you guys to achieve their aims while you get little or nothing.

Also, for the gatemen, office clerks, record keepers who still think and hope that one day one day JOHESU will take them to the level of a medical doctor through strike actions and confrontations and insulting doctors on facebook; I say a big congratulations in advance to you.

My comments are filled with bitter but solid truths. When Johesu locked up government properties and bullied well meaning doctors, nothing was wrong with them. However when I speak against obvious wrong doing, then something is wrong. Re-educate urself and don't follow d multitude to do evil.

Government workers should learn to adopt the Japanese method. Take blood samples, run pathology test, conduct xrays, dispense drugs at the pharmacy without taking a dime from patients. By the time you dispense drugs worth N1 billion to Nigerians at no cost, even the sick will help you in the fight for your rights.
our problem is greed. Many Nigerians are greedy hence it will be difficult to implement this policy. Japanese thinking is quite different from ours

This piece should be typed and kept on the door front of all Johesu members. This is serious education at a glance. The Lab Scientist are the drivers of this unholy struggle, they are technicians who are largely uninformed but seek to amass titles not earned by any standard. Lab scientists are technicians and no amount of padding will change their status. The pharmacists better reallign, as they are currently dining in the mud with medical dejects.

nigeria is indeed a shithole

so because the minister of health is a doctor,

minister of state a doctor

Even minister of labour is a doctor

all the cmd in federal and general hospitals are doctors

wher 're the nurses, med scientists, pharmacists, microbiologists, chemists, these 're all professionals. they attended universities
just like the doctors.

as it stands now. a house officer the lowest cadre of doctors earn 180k. I have seen the pay slip of a friend that works in irrua specialist teaching hospital.

I'm neither a doc or a pharmacist or a nurse
but the disparity and cheating is too much mhen.

let's call a spade a spade.

you are in your own world dear. Doctors are paid higher everywhere in the world, the same way Judges are paid higher than other judicial staff, military is paid higher than other security agancies. It's called essential services and it's everywhere in the world..so cry from today till you die it won't change anything. , if e pain you too much den go and read medicine and surgery at AAU that is if your brain can carry or better still kill yourself!! The next set of house officers will be paid more than 180000 so you can so you can jump into the highway, just because you are ignorant, jealous and unintelligent to know that this is what is obtained everywhere in the world . I don't look at people as trash. I not only have pharmacist, Lab Scientist, and nurses as brothers, sisters and relations, I also married a Nurse. So when I speak, I am naturally sensitive to all professions in the health line. But sometimes people takes the Doctors prolonged silence for stupidity and I will have none of that. The other day a so called nurse termed amarabae boasted about how she is more sound than any consultant physician. Should I also keep mute hearing such gibberish?
