20,000 PVC HOLDERS DECLARE SUPPORT FOR PDP IN ANAMBRA

Ahead of the forthcoming 2019 general elections, about 20,000 Permanent Voters Card- holders in Anambra State have declared support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Eyes Of Lagos gathered that, The PVC holders who operate under a platform called; Truth Is Life International, were at the state headquarters of the party recently to pledge their support for the party. Chairman of the group, Mr. Ejiamatu Goodluck Okeke said members of the organisation are essentially political activists, who were members of some political parties in the state, including the PDP but who left their parties due to some unhealthy political activities going on in the parties which they were not comfortable with. He stated that their members cut across all the wards in the state and that their numerical strength was over 20, 000 persons made up of 12,000 women, 6,000 men and 2,000 youths. Mr. Okeke stated that every member of the group has a Permanent Voters Card ( PVC) because according to him “you must be a Nigerian and you must have a PVC before we can admit you and register you as our member.” He stated that they decided to support and work for the victory of the PDP in the forthcoming general elections “because of the calibre of persons that are now in charge of the PDP in Anambra State, especially Hon. Ndubuisi Nwobu who is the state chairman”. Okeke stated that Nwobu is a true democrat who proved that he is a people oriented leader when he was chairman of Awka-South local government adding that apart from rebuilding the popular Eke Awka market, he carried every stakeholder along when he was ločal government boss. “We are not only going to contribute our money to make sure that PDP in the state did not lack money to mobilise people in the state for the 2019 election, our members are going to campaign from door-to-door, and neighbour-to-neighbour campaign so that PDP will win overwhelmingly in Anambra State”, Okeke stated. Receiving members of the group, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Anambra state, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu described the present hardship prevailing in the country as self- inflicted adding that “God allowed it to happen so that we shall seek His face”. He said, “Our( PDP) failure in 2015 has taught us enough lesson: that we must serve the people. We alienated ourselves from the people, that was why we lost that election ( Presidency) in 2015. But we have learnt our lesson, we can never repeat the mistake again. “I want to assure you that the calibre of person the PDP will present as presidential candidate for 2019 election will show everybody that nothing will stop PDP from chasing Buhari and APC out of power”, Nwobu stated. He stated that his leadership had already commenced aggressive tour of the local governments and assured them that they would be given equal opportunities in the party just as every other member of the party. Nwobu stated “Before the end of this month, PDP would have functional offices in all the 326 wards in the state where any interested person can go and get himself or herself registered to become a member of the party. “I am convinced that this suffering, this hardship we inflicted on ourselves will come to an end in 2019. Everybody should go and obtain his or her PVC because if you say that you are supporting PDP to win and you don’t have PVC you are just wasting your time, because it is with your pVC that you can vote out Buhari and APC, and then vote in PDP”. “Another area I must give you advice is on the issue of money politics. We must de-emphasize money in the forthcoming elections so that we can enthrone credible leaders that will give us good governance. “We have already commenced local government tours. We have been to Ekwusigo. This week, we will be in Nnewi North and Nnewi South; Onitsha North and Onitsha South; Anambra East and Anambra West, Oyi and Ayamelum. Our plan is that in the next three weeks we would have finished touring all the 21 local governments in the state. “And before 1st July, 2018, PDP will have functional offices in all the wards in Anambra State so that anybody who wants to join the party can go to the wards and get registered because if anybody wants to join a political party it is at the wards that the person will go and register. And when you register try to participate actively in the activities of the party in the ward”, he said.
