The higher being to which you refer and to which you utterly submit yourself is an imagination of the heart and mind and not a reality. The reality is this.

1. A religious or faith tradition (such as the one you belong to, i.e. Roman Catholicism) teaches beliefs in religious propositions.
2. No religious proposition (e.g. Creationsim) is known to be true.
3. Teaching for belief in not-known-to-be-true propositions is indoctrinatory.

What you need to do is to intellectually call into question the assumptions underlying your customary, habitual ways of thinking and acting and then get yourself attuned to thinking and acting differently on the basis of this critical questioning.
