Today everyone, all media outlets celebrate MKO Abiola for "supposedly" winning the June 12, 1993 election and his subsequent annihilation by the Military when he declared himself winner of that election. They say he's the "symbol of democracy in Nigeria" because the election is adjudged the freest and fairest election in the history of Nigeria.

How saddening it is that the real mastermind, the architect of the Electoral System, Electoral Processes and institutions that delivered the results and democratised our Electoral systems; the man that risked his life, defied all odds and gate-crashed the Supreme Military Council's meeting uninvited on 11th June same year just to ensure the election was not cancelled or postponed by the Military is totally neglected.

And as this shows the hypocrisy and glaring lack of readiness of the leaders and opinion moulders of this country to shape Nigerian in the right course of genuine Nation building, it does speak volume of the blatant abuse of the justice system. This is "selective justice" and at worst a "divide and rule tactics" always adopted by the hegemonic North to consolidate power at the detriment of the divided South.

If anything, genuine reflection on, recognition and celebration of June 12, 1993 can never ever happen without paying due tribute to the "ICON of the DEMOCRATIC ELECTORAL SYSTEM," Chief Humphrey Nwosu. Such a befitting award as given Gani Fawehinmi Is equally deserving of Nwosu!
