As it stands

Nigeria's victory over Iceland put everything back in their own hands ahead of the final round of Group D games. Will it be Nigeria, Argentina or Iceland who join Croatia in the knockout stages?

Both goals were scored in the second half by Ahmed Musa. The first goal came in the 49th minute, resulting in Iceland defender Ragnar Sigurðsson requiring medical attention on the pitch. Musa’s second goal came in the 75th minute, when he rounded Iceland goalkeeper Gylfi Sigurðsson, who had strayed from the net to follow the ball. Iceland then missed a penalty awarded late in the game.

Croatia is now on top of the group with 6 points, Nigeria second with 3 points, with Iceland and Argentina trailing behind with one point each.

Argentina were humbled by Croatia in their second group games and now Argentina’s chances of qualifying for next round hing by a thread really. Croatia scored twice without a reply and qualified for the knockout stages as group winners. Ante Rebic and Modric scored after the break to ensure a rather comfortable 2-0 win over Argentina.

After watching Rebic, Modric & Rakitic destroy Lionel Messi & CO, this is how Nigeria should line up against Argentina:

Uzohic
Balogunkic
Ekongic
Ebuehic
Omeruvic
Ndidic
Etebovic
Mikelic
Musaic
Ihenachodric
Mosikic

Well, FIFA will definitely be on Argentina's side despite that they'll play their boots off, cheat, dive and tackle the eagles dangerously. Our team really need to hunker down and avoid soft penalties since this is where FIFA will be waiting to assist Argentina.

A big game, this.

The midfield battle will determine where this goes.

Trying to cut the supply to Messi should be the strategy.

I hope Sampaoli makes the mistake of playing a four man midfield like he did against Croatia. Get Ndidi and Etebo to hassle and harry old man Mascherano in that midfield, and they could be in trouble again.

And more importantly, we should try our best to tackle with sense inside the D-box. Those guys will try to draw fouls from us seeing we've conceded two PKs already in two games.

Rooting for the Eagles.

I am not interested and I insist

please all the players should return back to their clubs after losing out...don't bother to come back to nigeria again.
until we implement death sentence or jail term to any player who performed woefully.that is when we will get things right.
I read saudi arabia will be punishing their players who lost 5-0 to russia.
super eagles does not deserve a kobo for this participation.they can keep the useless overhyped jersey and continue taking pictures with their thumbs up in europe

if nigeria avoids defeat, we are thru to next round, cos i dont see iceland defeating croatia. But it wont be easy, argentina is now like a wounded lion.
