Stop using tired legs!!!

Most of our players were lazy and lousy on the pitch and I believe its a sign of old age catching up with them. Go round Nigeria, watch the NPFL matches, there are a lot of young talents waiting to be given a chance. Stop using tired legs!

It's one thing to be Talented and another to develop that Talent.

NPFL is the grave yard of talents due to poor organisation and extremely poor coaching.

As for Yesterday's match, our defence and defensive midfielders were good but creative midfielders were absent. As usual they left our 9 isolated and ineffective.

The man should tell them to stop needless back pass... Mikel should be behind the striker and we need two strikers.

Re: Nigeria Vs Croatia: What Advice Would You Give To Coach, Rohr? by phase1: 8:22am On Jun 17, 2018
Is fat arzed Ighalo really the best Nigeria can offer as a striker?

There are tons of fast paced hungry strikers in the Nigerian league begging to be given a fraction of a chance.

My longterm advice is that any player who has made so much money and no longer motivated shouldn't be in team anymore. They can't offer you anything.

Use players that are hungry to break away from poverty even if they play in the local league. There is a reason our Under 17 and U-21s do better than the super eagle. Motivation to break out from poverty which in turn leads to hunger for success.

We can only win our next match playing 352
Was thinking he was gonna adapt to it in d second half. He should henceforth play omerou, ekong & balogun as 3 @ d back. Ndidi Mikel & iwobi @ d midfield (iwobi as ten, Mikel should support ndidi at blocking 4 to protect d back 3). Y ebuehi plays right wing back & moses plays left wing back. Nwankwo & iheanacho should play alternately upfront like dey did against Argentina in the friendly.
Re: Nigeria Vs Croatia: What Advice Would You Give To Coach, Rohr? by Viking007(m): 10:22am On Jun 17, 2018
Looking at the match from a technical point of view, we played well. The coach obviously had a game plan & the players performed accordingly - Long balls to skip the midfield traffic...but it failed, albeit not woefully, as the first goal was an own goal, while the second was a penalty. If not the fair outcome was a 0-0. Even the white pundits saw this.

Patiently waiting for the coach's next technical decision, the good thing is we have a team who can play according to a game plan, not some disjointed, bele face, I-pass-my-neigbour football.

Well, what then shall we say?Since 1998,it has been like this! The only time we really enjoyed our group stage games was in 1994(USA).
Since then,it has been one prayer or the other to scale through! But all hope is not lost yet though.....
To me,it was indeed a fantastic selection;good job from the Coach there! My reservation was actually on their positioning......
The truth is,Etebo could play a more attacking role than Mikel. So,why not employ him there so that Mikel would play the deep 4 with Ndidi?
Iwobi was actually not at his best yesterday. But in my opinion,Musa was never an option!
All we need is to instill confidence in them more.....they can make it!
Good defensive work I also observed, just that I was a bit furious with Ekon for holding that guy for too long!I hope he has learnt from that costly blunder!
My joy is,these boys are actually growing!Judging from what they played in the friendly games,it's obvious that yesterday was just a bad day for them.Otherwise......
I stand with Super Eagles!
I stand with Rohr!
I stand with all lovers of football!
I stand for Nigeria!
We shall progress from the group stage!Don't ask me how? After all,we had faced a more difficult situation than this, and we extricated!

Advised to resign.

The earlier we realised that win or lose,Local coach is the way to go,the better for us.

We keep on looking for short cut to temporary success, via foreign coaches, wheras the money wasted can be used to develop local coaches to global standards, with long term benefits.

My own view after super eagles defeat. Yes, I will give man of match to v. Moses and seconded by etebo.
Our problem in DAT match is formation. He played many player out dear good position. It seems DAT our couche is still testing players becos he keep on changing players. Poor performers in DAT match are
Odion,Mikel,Idowu.
I advice him to player 4-4-2 formation. Starting from defence is
omeru, ekong,balong, ebuhi
Moses, ndidi, Mikel,iwobi
Ihenanacho, igalo.
Ihenancho should play behind igalo.

* The coach should help his midfield and attacking players to change their pre-mature ejaculation mentality, because scoring a goal is not only about passing the ball to Moses who will now loop it into the box for a lucky header to score.
* The team played excellent football from the back.
They were able to control the speed of things, maintain ball possession , win free kicks, but they did all these in their own half of the pitch.

* I'm not focusing on any player or position, but on the entire team. They should replicate what they do from behind in the opponents 18 yrd box.
Teamwork is what matters.

* They should engage in 1-2 plays that create opportunities. The good thing about Spain is that once they have the ball, the players form a network immediately; there is always one or two players to pass to, near and afar. They form triangles, squares, straight line, and even circles right in the opponents 18. But in our case, except when in our half of the pitch, once someone has the ball, others would start running towards the opponent's goal expecting an imaginary pass that would still be intercepted .

* Our goal keeper should also be trained on targeting a player while pulling out the ball. it's a huge waste to haul the ball aimlessly into the field or across the lines.

* Our flower boys can become real heroes if they learn to own the ball in the opponent's half. Not just passing it around carelessly though, but passing in shapes that would give room for them to score using a strong short, skillful header, dribble and score, commit penalty and score, over head kick, bicycle kick, etc.
They can copy the Crotians or the Peru team too. When they want to score, they provide a good network of passes and the last man to score is the one that has the fewest marking opponents around him and has the clearest view of the goal. The final scorer mustn't be the usual attackers. The players should ask each other questions to know each persons strength so that when they are done networking, the final potential scorer would receive the ball in the manner and pace that best suits him.
That is what marcelo does for realmadrid.
Scoring goals is not done by always going back to build from behind, take the play to the opponents half, be skillfully and strategically hungry.

* Nigeria is a good side and should win the cup. We have the strenght, we defend well and win the ball from the opponent excellently. Even the win Croatia got, we gave them. No single one of their set-pieces could earn them a goal. If not for the "pardonable" mistake by etobo that gave them an own goal and the "unpardonable" challenge from our rugby-player-defender that gave them a penalty that they converted, everything for end 0-0.

# God bless Naija, God Bless the Coach, and God bless our team.

# Jay Jay Okocha for the job after Rohr.

The ineptitude of Rohr was exposed yesterday, the super eagles plays with so much fear and caution, I've seen some comments in which people said that Etebo should have played further forward while Mikel should have played deeper, that makes sense but couldn't have still made any difference because the super eagles were playing a very deep defensive line and never committed enough bodies in attack when they had possession, there was very few quick forward passes and fast counter attacks when Nigeria won the ball from Croatia, most of the time, they resorted to long balls to the lone striker Ighalo and too many square passes and back passes.

Croatia wasn't that much better than Nigeria but they were slightly better than us because they tried to exploit our weaknesses which was set pieces, and that's how they got their goals, Nigeria was never comfortable with corners throughout the match, conceded the 1st goal through an Etebo own goal from a corner that was not defended properly, the 2nd goal which was a penalty from a foul by Ekong who recklessly hugged his opponent inside the box during a corner kick.

Coach Rohr should work on our organization when defending set pieces but that's not where super eagles biggest problem is right now. The biggest problem right now is creating goal scoring chances, Nigeria hasn't scored more than one goal in any of their friendly matches since the 4-2 win over Argentina last year.

Nigeria can improve on their attack and create more scoring chances if they change their attacking system, right now, they have to take risks by throwing more bodies in attack when they've got possession, no long balls unless absolutely necessary, attack on the wings with two players each time to create an effective overlap and decoy. The defence should play a high line in order to put pressure onto the opponents midfield which will allow Nigeria to effectively win the balls faster and will also enable a shorter distance to opponent's goal area.

Nigeria should speed up the quickness of their counter attack when they win back possession, each time a nigerian player is on the ball and goes for an attack, another nigerian player should always stay a few meters close, make himself available for a better interchange of passes and shouldn't play back passes and square passes, that will only allow their opponents to recover their defensive shape and close down the spaces. This happened a lot yesterday in our match with Croatia.

If Nigeria plays the same way that they did yesterday, they won't score a goal against both Iceland and Argentina, they might not even create one decent goal scoring opportunity, I watched Mikel in an interview yesterday saying that the players gave their best against Croatia, seriously, if that was their best then truly the super eagles don't even deserve to be in the world cup. That been said, Rohr should make these changes, organize the team, try and play attacking football rather than go out of the world cup with on a whimper and regret.

In the first place, we should stop lying about the age of our goalkeeper! He is not 19! He's closer to 30 than 20. Then our coach should shun pride by speaking English when he's asked questions in English instead of resorting to German. In summary, Nigeria should be real. We should be serious! We're currently fooling around: no game plan, no discipline, no commitment. Without these qualities you can never get results! Watch the tapes of the '94 Eagles, and come back here.

Bros carry out investigation, more than 50% of NPFL players are more than 28years old. That is the football age they claim. So just imagine what their real age will be. Why do u think our clubs are always out class in CAF Champions league and Confederation cup. Our football need national conference.

In front of the back four: Mikel & Ndidi and in their front Etebo and Iwobi. Iwobi should play as a number 10..

Between abandoning our old, genuinely recognisable style of play, which was marked by deceptively slow progress upfield and then burst of speed, when near opponents third , marshalled by creative players with uncanny abilites and our contemporary play which tries but fails to emulate Ghana's all energy style, we have lost our way.

But I think there may be hope. I've noticed something, something so simple and so brief it will perhaps die unrecorgnised if no one points it out. What i mean is certain current Nigerian players ability to score goals from just outside the penalty box area. Not blasted but placed with economy. They do is so well that it may be something Nigeria could try to specialise in doing. I'm not a footy fanatic so I can't remember the names of the Nigerian players, but what I saw made me sit up. They made shots at goal from outside the box in a deliberate way, meaning they intentionally placed thire shots into the back of the net. Was this in the friendly against Argentina? Can't recall exactly. Anyway seems Nigeria have the players gifted at this. Perhaps lacking the ability to cut through the opponents defence in the box, some players began taking pot-shots from outside. I don't know. In any case, whatever the origin, seems Nigeria may have the talent to turn this into a genuine technique and not just a try-your-luck thing. The added benefit of becoming specialist at this will be to cause opponents, who begin to recognise what we do, to come out more to counter us thereby leaving the box less congested.
