The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Saddique Baba Abubakar, celebrated Eid el-Fitr with troops of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Borno State participating in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency.

Air Marshal Abubakar, who arrived Maiduguri on Friday afternoon, joined officers, men and women of the NAF in a special Jumu’at prayer at the NAF base mosque.

Shortly after the prayer, he had lunch with dozens of his troops inside a newly built multi-purpose hall which was just commissioned and named after Late AVM Ekpenyong Edem.

Addressing the troops, the NAF chief conveyed greetings to them from President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the president was happy with their bravery and gallantry in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency.

He said in order to keep their morale high and ensure professionalism in their conduct, more than a thousand officers, men and women of the NAF were sent to courses abroad.

Air Marshal Abubakar was accompanied to Maiduguri metropolis by the Chairman, Senate Committee on the NAF, Senator Duro Samuel Faseyi, who commissioned the hall as well as the Late AVM E.E. Edem’s wife and other senior officers.
