2019: Don't Fall Tricks of Seasonal Politicians-Gov Ahmed

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has advised people of the state not to fall for gimmicks and tricks of seasonal politicians who only show up during electioneering period.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Media and Communications, Dr. Muideen Akorede stated this on Monday while featuring on a Live Radio Programme in Ilorin, the state capital.

Akorede stressed that the recent statement of Governor Ahmed calling on kwarans/residents to get their permanent voter's card (PVC) was to raise their political consciously among the people.

According to him: "His excellency's call for people to pick their PVCs was to raise political consciousness among Kwarans/residents ahead of 2019 general elections. It's also based on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) statistics that rates PVC collection low in the state.

"Governor Ahmed is just advising the people to perform their civil responsibility as patriotic citizen. I guess some citizens do not understand that they could make changes through their votes. This is what will give them opportunity to vote candidate(s) of their choice during elections.

"Our people should be wary of antics of seasonal politicians that usually come around few months to election and go about deceiving the people with bogus and non realistic campaign promises. They are now is town with their gimmicks, Kwarans/residents must be careful."

He noted that Governor Ahmed led administration is implementing programmes/policies in line with the NEED Assessment conducted few years ago.

The Governor's Spokesman said: "The Kwara State Government is implementing policies that has direct impact on the generality of the people. The five general hospitals renovated by Governor Ahmed has improved quality health services delivery across the state. For instance, the General Hospital in Offa is not serving the people of Offa alone but people from Ojoku, Igosun, Irra and other neighboring villages are also using the facility."

Akorede disclosed that Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed will soon introduce more people oriented programmes in order to delivery dividends of democracy to people of the state.
