Another Nigeria Police Brutality And Extrajudicial Killing by Kindluv3(m): 5:41am On Jun 23, 2018
Another Nigeria police brutality and extrajudicial killing by the Nigeria Police, Ekpan Warri, Delta State under the administration of Sen Ifeanyi Okowa as governor of the state. Nigerians should rise up and defend one another before we lost everyone so dear to us, according to Malcolm X “If someone puts their hands on you make sure they never put their hands on anybody else again.” Please, what becomes the fate of the ordinary man if the police which is established to fight crime has been infiltrated by crime lords?: Please, for how long will the unarmed Nigerians manage a with a tyranny, oppressive, and suppressive leadership that is tolerating the citizens in their own democratic society? According to Assata Shakur “People get used to anything. The less you think about your oppression, the more your tolerance for it grows. After a while, people just think oppression is the normal state of things. But to become free, you have to be acutely aware of being a slave.”

The government should be made to know that a society that deprived and oppressed her youths freedom to associate and move without harassment cannot grow. The Nigeria government under the command of a few that runs an aristocratic system in a supposed democratic society should as a matter of urgency sit upright and put an end to this ugly havoc against unarmed and vulnerable Nigerians that are used on daily basis to practice aiming by the country's security agencies or the government should better still issue a quit notice to the citizens if they do not wish for the citizens to live peacefully in their country, for the harrassment and embarrassement is not only getting out of hand but it has got way beyond out of control that the Nigerian security agencies most especially the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) whose activities in our society is brutally merciless against the innocent even compared to what the armed robbers, kidnappers, and cultist they are commissioned to fight against.

Just a few days ago an aspiring young and vibrant citizen of Nigeria by the name "Comr. Christian Njoku" was murdered inside his Toyota Solara two-door car in cold blood and his body was immediately carried away and deposited at the Warri general hospital by the same Nigeria Police under the Ekpan command that murdered him and then left with an instruction with the mogue attendants never to disclose their identity and foolish of the police the took the car of their victim to their station with a case that the victim is an armed robber which has always been their style to cover their extrajudicial killing of innocent people because the people have always exhibited cowardice towards their acts, therefore, they have always gone free just like the case of a Delta State governorshi political aspirant in the person of Chief Ogbe Onokpite whose case has since been swept under carpet without justice under the administration of Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan as governor of the state then and Chief Ayiri Emami as the chairman of security of the state in which the deceased was a perceived political threat to the then government.

Please, for how long will the political leaders whom the citizens entrusted with the affairs of the nation and even pay their hard earn money as tax in order to provide them security manage their deliberate silence when innocent sons, fathers, husbands, boyfriends, and future leaders are been murdered on a daily basis by the same security agents that should be protecting lives and properties in the Nigeria society? Well, the government should be in mind that the citizens shall be left with no other choice other than to defend themselves with whatever thing they can reach out to if the political leaders in charge of the governmental affairs continue with their gross irresponsibility because we cannot continue to live in fear in our land because our liberty has been taken from us by our own leaders. But unfortunately, most of the so-called advocates we have today have made themselves cheaper than even the cost of a cooking salt by turning themselves into political hustlers, jobbers in order to benefit from the political stomach/belle infrastructure program of the same government that has been oppressing and suppressing the citizens. Please, if the right of an activist has been sold in exchange for food, what then can the oppressed do? Well, a similar question has been asked in Psalm 11:3 "When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?" but until now no answer.

All human and political right activist, advocates, agitators including all self-styled freedom fighters and legal learned legal practitioners should sit upright and listen up, for this is not time to exhibit pride or brag of status when only a little or nothing has been done since the establishment of several human right organization as all they have been doing is speaking grammars with the politicians behind the government. It is high time we understand what activism is about that it is not to seek political offices, hustle for SAs and PAs appointments from the government but to checkmate and monitor the activities of the government on behalf of the citizens and even fight when need be, for enough is enough when all we do is snap photos with political dignitaries but cannot confront them when their leadership is perceived to be detrimental to the people who should be protected. An activist is free to befriend politicians but it should be for the right reason but every activist should remember that it is the interest of the common man in the society that should be of priority an not the government because an activist is the voice of the social-cultural class and not the political, traditional or religious class.

The Activist should step up the crusade for freedom from just talking and talking without daring because if we want to achieve result then we must do the unthinkable knowing that one cannot continue to do things repeatedly the same and expect a different result. Several seminars, congresses, summits, and workshops have been organised on human right and Nigerians has been educated, orientated, and inform of their rights and all that with the usual "Article 3" which states that "Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security" while "Article 9" states " No one is subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile" All these have been said to the security agencies and yet they still stepped on the right of the people, if the police has no regards for the trained legal practitioners who pride themselves as the most learned, who then are the less learned to the police? And this is why it is time for the activists to start training themselves defensively because the assault on innocent citizens is likely to increase because the government has demonstrated to be careless about the security welfare of her citizens.

The human right activists of today should not only be making made by legends in the likes of Martin Luther, Malcolm X, Fidel Castrol and others but activist should act their quotes because in the day when men were men there was liberation army that is ready to use anything their hands can reach to defend themselves instead of crying like babies begging for their rights from those that are paid with their painful money to provide them security, unlike what we have been doing today where we beg for our right. All human right organizations that has already establish reputable platforms should send the politicians in charge of the Nigeria government especially that of Delta state under Sen. Okowa as the governor, the speaker of the house Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, the Chief Justice of the state, and Okowa's special principal secretary in the person of Hilary Obi Ibegbulem and lastly the security agencies a signal message that they should do whatever they can within their power to make sure justice is served this time arround by bringing to book those behind the extrajudicial murder of the unarmed Comr. Christian Njoku. But failure to do so then the government should be ready to murder more unarmed citizens especially the youths for political rituals ahead of 2019 election because a time is near where it will be a word for a word and a hand for a hand between the unarmed citizens and the licensed security armed killers.

No one man or group of persons can monopolize the use of violence, for every human has the instinct to do the undo even with training if they are pushed and we Nigeria youths are already been pushed too far as our respect for the law has been abused by the law enforcement for too long when the Boko Haram is roaming around in the north like kings and yet the security agencies cannot do a thing other than killing innocent and unarmed young Nigerians that are going about with their business struggling to support their families in a society where the government has exhibited total neglect and high irresponsibility. The Activists should note that Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, Moses were all activist and they gave their lives along the line for humanity and society, after all, we will all die someday anyway or who would have thought that Comr. Christian Njoku will die on that day and in the hands of the same law enforcement agencies whom most of us have been avoiding because we fear they will beat and possibly kill us, therefore, we become legal cowards. The only way to be safe in our society is to take charge of our liberty and the only way to take it back is for us to resist oppression at all times. We should not be afraid of the lion's roar because if the lion is not afraid of us it won't roar which also apply to triggered freak police if they are not afraid they won't unarmed citizens.

I pity those who think their lives are more precious than the lives of others and because they want to live for their families they decided to play smart in the guise of being careful but they forgot that no one can be more careful than careful itself and everlasting life is not guaranteed by avoiding to die. The government is taking advantage of the fear factor in the Nigeria youths which Fela talked about that the average Nigerian do not want to because their wives, children, parents, families are at home and behind they have not even enjoyed their lives. We should know that our families whom we claimed to love the most should be the reason why we should rise up and fight for a better society that is secure for them even if become the sacrificial lamb because there must be a price which can be either denial or death. We should have in mind that something must kill a man which can be either car, bike accident, plane crash, boat mishap, fine hazard, stray bullet, Ebola, jump into the Lagoon, killed by armed robbers or cultist or by the Nigeria Police which will be a death for nothing unlike if one has sacrificed for something like our forefather who fought against slave trade when they no longer can behold the sight of how the white slave drivers were maltreating their families in front them and even rapped and abused their wives and daughters including compelling families to commit incest. We must be ready to defend the oppressed even when others exhibited cowardice which according to Henrik Ibsen “the strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone.”

We cannot give a blind eye, a deaf ear and a dumb mouth towards the oppressed, we should never let these words “Injustice to one is an injury to all” departs from our conscience justice in case when we ignore to fight for others and when others did not fight for because posterity and karma never forget. Activism is not getting more results in modern day because is now entertainment where the activist has come to render romantic agitation with fear and favor and with intent make fame, and then hustle in the guise that they are fighting but too careful to be stained. Note that true men like Nelson Mandel, Fela and many suffered even for a crime which they did not commit go to jail for what they did not only believe but stand with and today history has vindicated them that even world presidents celebrate them. Our modern-day activist wants to pose like King David, Samson but not ready to even dare fit their legs in Goliath slippers.

Conclusively, the law enforcement agents most especially the dreaded SARS seems to have forgotten that the lives of their families are also not exempted from the danger of a future merciless and irresponsible security agent by the time they have either retired, dismissed or possibly dies after killing innocent fathers, sons, and husbands with their guns. The security agents should know that if they wish for others to treat the families they will be leaving behind then they should show mercy and respect to those they met here because someone also left them behind.

Thanks, God bless and may the souls of the victims of irresponsible law enforcement agents not rest until justice is served and to put an end to nonsense against unarmed citizens.

Charles Eyimofe (Baruch) Pemu.
