Commercial motorcyclists operating in Awka and Onitsha have been urged to take advantage of the alternative empowerment measures put in place by the state government to engage themselves productively.

Speaking to journalists in Awka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Mr. Ostar Christophe, said the ban of Okada riders in the two major cities come first of next month was in the best interest of the state and the people.

Mr. Christopher noted that Governor Willie Obiano as the Chief Security Officer of the state is determined not to compromise the lives and property of the people in anywhere and has given governance human face by providing immediate interventions to those affected to enable them not only to continue with a source of livelihood but also to expand their earning capacity by upgrading their business through the purchase of shuttle buses.

He pointed out that Okada as very fast moving machine is often used by criminals to threaten the security of the state which has remained paramount to the Governor.
The Senior Special Assistant enjoined other commercial motorcyclists operating in other areas to always comply with the laws and directives guiding their operations including closing hour of seven o’ clock in the evening.
He reassured that the state has strong vigilante services at the grassroot working closely with the police to maintain a robust security apparatus and urged landlords and community leaders to ensure that the all data of all tenants in their areas are properly documented and their activities closely monitored.
Mr. Christopher said the relationship between farmers and herdsmen in the state has remained very cordial while the state Cattle Menace Control Committee has remained alert to nip every excesses from the bud
