Why Did Buhari Abandon South South Ports? by Nobody: 6:55pm On Jun 24, 2018
Why has the buhari led administration abandoned south south ports(PORT HARCOURT PORT & CALABAR PORT) ?

Many people in Nigeria don't know about the existence of ports in Calabar and port Harcourt simply because various administrations has focused more on Lagos ports.

The buhari led administration has refused to dredge or develop the two ports in the south south.

There is no gain saying the fact that Calabar Port is very strategic to the economic development of Nigeria particularly the

North- Central, South-South and South- East regions of the country.

Besides, when functional, it will increase the volume of vessel traffic and cargo throughput in the port, decongest Lagos ports and reduce cost of doing business for Calabar-based businessmen who spend additional transport cost to take delivery of their consignments in Lagos and Onne ports.

It is for these reasons that on November 17, 2014, immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan flagged off the operations of Calabar Channel Management (CCM), a joint venture company between Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) and a consortium of companies led by Messrs Niger Global Engineering and Technical Company Limited, for the dredging of the Calabar Port. Recall that previous Federal Governments had made several investments to dredge the port to ensure safe navigation, but such efforts had proved abortive with billions of naira sunk.

This effort, they say, is coming at a period of renewed global interest in trade and investment in the Nigeria maritime sector.
The buhari led administration has interests in various ports across the country-The concessioned Lagos & Tin Can Island Ports, Intels Onne and Port Harcourt Port which if the Calabar Port is allowed to be operational, will not be in their interest.

The buhari led administration does not want the dredging of the Calabar which is very strategic to the economic growth of the country and the South-South and South-East regions in particular.

While there's still hope for the Calabar port, there's nothing to write home about the Port Harcourt port.

No single development has commenced in the Port Harcourt port since buhari became president.

Bala Usman, who disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Calabar, said the Authority has placed an advert for the contract, and will commence the survey of the channel this week in preparation for award of the dredging contract.

Represented by the Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services, Idris Abubakar, she said: “NPA is carrying out the survey so as to identify the total area to be dredged, after which we can now consider which contractor will carry out the dredging.

The contract has been advertised, we are now in the procurement process. We have been given allocation in the 2017 budget. We will commence the survey on Monday because we need to know the size of the area before giving it to the qualified contractor.

Yes, it was Buhari that told Goatluck Jonaddaft not to dredge the Calabar and Port-Harcourt waterways but instead loot the money that would have been used for it.

Now, get this into your skull, Buhari will never ever dredge South-South waterways. If your lord and savior the drunk ineffectual buffoon refused to do it for the six wasted years that he was looting and stealing, then you will sick upstairs to think that your enemy Buhari will do it. Mind you, your votes just amount to 5%, so Buhari does not need it to win again in 2019.

As a Warri man, I can only laugh at your folly.

Anyway, I'm not here to trade words with divisioniaries, revisionists or newts.

We've had a government that was in power for 16 years , so if you doubt sincerity of government ,perhaps it's related to how you were treated in the past.

Presently, a bathymetric survey is being conducted. If you have any evidence to the contrary, by all means provide or simply STFU.

Just as you have bandits on the highway and political sphere, we have bandits in cyberspace.

They have multiple accounts as a result of this ,they can insult people and tribes knowing they can easily migrate to another moniker should one be banned.

They are the same set of students at university who ensure the varsity is shut down to avoid exams forgetting they would never be ready and the institution would not be shut forever.

HMMMMMMM

ON THE CONTRARY BUHARIS REGIME IS THE ONLY REGIME THAT IS TRYING TO REVIVE THE EASTERN PORTS. GO AND CHECK THE PORT REFORM PLANS
YOU SHOULD HAVE POSED THE SAME QUESTION TO OBASANJO THAT MOVED THE PORTS HEAD OFFICE TO LAGOS INSTEAD OF IT BEING CENTRAL IN ABUJA,
ALSO YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED JONATHAN THE SAME QUESTION BEING THAT HE WAS FROM THE REGION AND IT WAS DURING HIS TENURE THE RIVER NIGER DREDGING TO CREATE MORE PORTS FLOPPED,
