PRESIDENT BUHARI’S INTEGRITY, QUESTIONABLE, AS GOVERNMENT PERFECTLY CLOSES EYES ON ALLEGATION OF MULTI-MILLION NAIRA FRAUD CASES IN NASENI, ABUJA

What else should Nigerians say or do before the federal government agrees to investigate the multi-million-naira fraud cases involving Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) whose second tenure in office was recently renewed by Mr. President amidst hundreds of valid cases of fraud that were severally sent via petitions to the presidency, Office of the Secretary to the Federal Government, EFCC, ICPC, and other relevant government agencies.

Government’s continuous refusal to investigate glaring cases of fraud recorded against the NASENI Boss, raises a very big question in the minds of those who believe that President Buhari has zero tolerance for corrupt practices particularly in government parastatals and other offices. NASENI’s case has become a litmus test. Why has Mr. President turned blind eyes on established allegations of fraud in NASENI? Why has he refused to approve an investigation into the allegations levied against Prof. M.S. Haruna? NASENI’s case is fast fogging and dimming our perception of the published integrity of Mr. President. Is this how Mr. President intends to handle matters of great concerns that leave negative marks on national development? Or, is he only interested in clamping down on opposition as claimed by some Nigerians? If “yes”, then, this nation has not yet found her messiah. It is so unfortunate that even the SGF is aware of these allegations but has simply decided to stay mute. Nigerians are watching!

Please, prove to Nigerians that you are the president we voted for in 2015 because of our belief in your integrity. Mr. President, we appeal that you reverse your approval of the reappointment of Prof. M.S. Haruna as NASENI Boss and, order an investigation into the allegations of fraud that have been levied against him.

Recently, a law firm, AS-Servio Attorney and Solicitors, through its representative, Barrister Kester Elebesunu in a petition to the EFCC, ICPC, and Mr. President accused Prof. M.S. Haruna the NASENI boss of embezzlement, false contract awards, intimidation of staff, diversion of funds among others. Hundreds of millions of public funds have been reportedly stolen/misappropriated by the NASENI boss. We therefore call on Mr. President and relevant agencies to order investigations into the allegations. [http://nigerianpilot.com/naseni-boss-in-multi-million-naira-scams/]

Mr. President, your integrity is at stake. Please, listen to Nigerians on NASENI matters which is already taking a national dimension and investigate Prof. M.S. Haruna for the sake of making Nigerians believe that your anti-corruption campaign is not a charade and mere travesty.

Ahmed Hassan, Abuja.
