AKSG PAYS JUNE 2018 SALARY DESPITE FAAC MEETING ENDING IN DEADLOCK.

In spite of the stalmate that characterised last Wednesday's Federation Account Allocation Committee(FAAC) meeting in Abuja, Akwa Ibom State Government has made prompt payment of June 2018 salary to workers in the State.

The FAAC meeting which was inconclusive arose over alleged discrepancies in revenue remittances on the part of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC)

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun in her reaction ,expressed disconcert over the development, saying that failure of the State Commissioners of Finance to collect their States' share of the monthly allocation following their protest on low returns from NNPC ,may delay payment of June salary to States' workers .

The Minister opined that NNPC was an investment of both the federal and states government expected to yield returns and when the returns are below expectations there was bound to be negative reactions on the parts of the stakeholders.

Also reacting on the outcome of the FAAC meeting, the State Commisioner for Finance, Mr. Nsikan Nkan averred that the steady increase in the price of crude oil without corresponding increase in figures of revenue remitted into the Federation Account has become a regular occurrence, a situation he noted has resulted in revenue sharing controversy between NNPC and FÀAC.

The Commissioner expressed optimism that the parties concern would engage in further negotiations and come to a compromise to resolve the anomaly amicably so as to move the country forward.

On the prompt payment of June salary by Akwa Ibom State government in the face of the present situation, the Finance boss pointed out that this has been one of the cardinal principles of the present administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel since its inception even at the time the allocation of the State was on a decline following the crash in oil price.

He noted that Civil servants play strategic roles in the development of the state as drivers of government's policies and programs and as such government places high premium on their welfare , hence the mobilization of funds for this very important obligation to enable workers meet their individual competing needs.

Mr. Nkan added that this could only come from a government that is people-oriented in which Governor Udom Emmanuel administration is well known for, calling for more support of the people to enable the State Governor fulfill all his lofty plans for the people.

Some of the Civil Servants who spoke with the correspondent lauded the effort of Governor Udom Emmanuel towards the well being of workers and by extension the people of Akwa Ibom State and pledged their unalloyed support to his administration.

You can't compare Akwa Ibon to most of the states.

1. They obviously have less workers in the civil service as It's relatively a new state .

2. Their monthly allocation is much higher than some states.

3. They don't have so many big cities that requires infrastructural development. So, less money is spent on projects.

Some of you here are jubilating n praising a gov for paying salary.
All I can say to u is sorry!!
Was that y u elected the gov??
U think u need a gov to pay salaries abi
A state with highest oil derivations n earnings?? With common sense, shouldn't u know that he should n can pay salaries even d FAAC allocations is delayed for more than a month?
Lagos paid salaries for several months more than a decade a ago without FAAC allocations. Not even with oil derivations but by increase their igr.
Here u falling over ur selves n won't let us hear word.
When ur outgoing gov settled himself with 500m n properties in choicest areas in d country u couldn't come out to say anything.

May ignorance not kill you.

Akwa Ibom with 31 LGAs has more civil service workforce than Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross river and Edo states. Yet, the difference between its allocation with states like Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers is marginal.

Go check whether these States have paid... Go check how many months state like Bayelsa is owing. It is about the brilliance of the Governor not volume of allocation

Governor Udom is not waiting for June Allocation
There are Capital Projects and Massive road construction projects littered across the State so it’s not about projects of Work functionality it is basically because of His ingenuity!

He has been collecting that derivation since 3yrs , what has he been doing with them.
I expect u to be asking how much has he been collecting n how much is d Bal after meaningful deductions for sensible projects. Hence if there Bal should he pocket the rest?
U don't even know if he borrowed from Banks to pay yet already praising him.
All I'm saying is that we expect so little from our leaders n should be more committed to asking critical questions as how they run our states

Pls one palpable principal of life is u shouldn't compare unnecessary with others , rather compare urself with ur limits.

Udom is highest earning gov in oil derivations, i expect more from him period.
If he's trying, he's damm to far from his limits. Let him do more!!

Ambo is trying , still I can't just start praising him, because he's still far from his limits n can do better. He's building lots of capital projects, but can't even tell lagosians how much is the costs ( esp his flyovers)
So im expecting more from Ambo.

We don't need govs to pay state salaries. With prudent n shrewd management, even computers can do that
