The Era of phones dropping off and getting damaged is gradually coming to an end thanks to this new invention by a 25 year old German engineering student. Almost every one at one point have mistakenly dropped his/her phone causing the phone some irreparable damages or at least a broken screen. So many expensive phones have been abandoned as a result of shattered screens, some people (especially ladies) still try to sell their expensive phones at giveaway prices all because they couldn’t find the screen to replace the broken one. People now use tempered glasses as a screen protector yet, the tempered glass doesn’t give the phone a perfect protection.



This problem is not limited to Nigeria alone, it’s a problem faced by every phone user on the planet and the solution has finally arrived.

Philip Frenzel, has invented a unique phone case he calls the ‘mobile airbag’, which will prevent your phone from getting damaged when dropped. The official name for this mobile airbag is “active damping” case and this invention took him 4 years to design.

This casing is equipped with sensors that detect when a phone is falling. When the sensors activate, they trigger four springs — located on each corner of the case — to unfold and poke out in all directions, like a spider, preventing the phone from hitting the ground.

When you pick the device up, you can fold the “set of eight thin metal curls” back inside the case. It makes the phone actually look like a spider when falling on the ground. The legs are made of springs which will make the phone bounce on it while keeping the phone in the air. How innovative.



This invention is really an answer to the prayers of many (especially ladies) who have damaged expensive phones mistakenly. No more spending on damaged screens and smashing of phones anymore. The product is expected to hit the market soon but for now Philip Frenzel is looking for sponsorship.

The 25-year-old engineering student plans to post the product on crowdfunding site Kickstarter in July, hoping it takes off.

“We want to be able to finance our livelihood with it,” Frenzel added. He has already won a top award in Germany for his brilliant invention!
